installing that xfce4-mixer fixed my headphones problem. There is still that issue with having to turn my master volume up to full blast to be able to hear anything clearly. At least I can put headphones on now to get the sound closer to my eardrum.

When I plug my headphones into my headphone port I get no sound. Plus I have to turn the sound all the way up just to hear sound through my normal speakers. Any help would be appreciated.
Once I created that folder and reentered that line into my fstab file. Then I mounted it through terminal it now has the correct permissions. Thanks for all the help.
jonesey@ThaPC:~$ sudo mount /dev/sdb1
fuse: failed to access mountpoint /media/storage: No such file or directory
jonesey@ThaPC:~$
I tried mounting it in terminal and this is the response.
Error org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.UnknownFailure
After I enter that line into my fstab I get the above error when I try to mount my external drive.
/dev/sdc1 /media/LEXAR vfat rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal,shortname=mixed,uid=1000,utf8,umask=077 0 0
/dev/sdb1 /media/My\040Book fuseblk rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096 0 0
This is from my mtab file. The sdb1 is the one in question. The sdc1 is a thumb drive in which I have full control of when i plug it in. I tried adding that line above to my fstab file, but it told me i didn't have permission.
Try the fix here:
jonesey@ThaPC:~$ sudo chown -R jonesey:jonesey /media/storage
chown: cannot access `/media/storage': No such file or directory
jonesey@ThaPC:~$
Did I type something in wrong?
ntfs
Why don't I have control of my external drives? I try to delete or move items to them and I'm denied. What do I do to fix this problem? I've tried to go to properties and give myself access with no luck.
