I was able to manually install flashplayer 10.3 and got it to work. I'll stick with this for a while, and see if I can get 11.2 to work a little later. Like sometime after April 15th. lol.....
Before I fool around with flash 11 anymore, I want to try to install flash 10. But when trying to do so, this is what I get:
ERROR: Your glibc library is older than 2.3.
Please update your glibc library.Any suggestions?
Ah yes, try 'lspci' in the terminal to get a list of your hardware, and 'lsmod' to see loaded modules.

I have google-chrome and chromium. Neither of them render flash. No "white box", but grey box with "could not load plugin" does appear where flash should. This is a different message than "you need to have flash installed". So flash is installed, it just won't load.
Tried it. But I get a "white box" where all the flash stuff is supposed to be. Right-clicking the area is futile as it does not do anything. My personal opinion is that this is the crappiest version of flash I've experienced. However, I must soldier on so I can get it, or an older version to work.
Too tired to do anything now, but I'll try some things tonight or tomorrow.
Here's a thought. Let me know if it is a reasonable one.
I've tried to install Flashplayer 10 and get a message that said that my glibc library was too old. Could the reason that flashplayer 11 doesn't play is because the glibc library is too old? And if so, how can I download the latest file?
Well, I had time today to try to figure out why I can't view any flash stuff and I did not solve the problem. But I have deduced what the problem might be. I downloaded quite a few different distros today and used some ones I had laying around: Mint Linux, Archbang, Sparky Linux, and Watt OS, as well as the live version of this distro. All of them came with flash "installed" with no gnash, nor a flash blocker. Using youtube as my barometer, every single distro would not render any flash sections of a page. Most of the time I got a blank white space where the video should be.
I have come to the conclusion that it may be a hardware problem. I use a Radeon card, but most of what I've read about bugs and video cards have been with nVidia. Not sure what to include for the rest of the post. I'm an intermediate guy, and I don't remember the command to list hardware in the terminal, which I assume would be the starting point. Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to try them out.
Came back to Crunchbang after spending some time with Arch/Archbang. Things are fairly smooth with the exception of the flashplugin. Whenever I go to a site that uses flash, I get nothing. Not even a "you need to download the latest version of flash".
Couldn't find anything recently posted on the forums regarding this issue. Is there a fix for it?
BTW, I should add that it seems that flash player 11 is not all that great in comparison to its predecessor. I had a similar problem in windows. Browsers recognize that the flash plugin is installed, but nothing gets rendered. Turned out that I had to update another program not associated with flash. Could that be the case here? Are other people having trouble with the flashplugin?
Also, are we able to do a search on this forum?
Thanks Ivanovnegro!!!! That clean config did the trick. Added the extra brushes back one by one to see if any of those were the source of my problem, but had no problems with any of them. If I run into the problem again, I'll know what to do!! Thanks again!

None of the drawing tools in GIMP work. I've tried in new files, imported images and tried work with those, and nothing goes onto the canvas. I'm just using the mouse.
I've tried other programs (inkscape, krita, karbon, Fireworks MX using wine) and I don't have this problem. Tried looking up a solution online and saw nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Tried to boot the original Statler from 03/2011, and the wireless keyboard did not work either, although I can use it when I'm running #! from my hard drive. Is it safe to assume that if I connect a keyboard and a mouse into the ps/2 inputs, I can install the latest #! and later use the wireless after the install?
boondoc
Just tried to run the live cd of Archbang and Peppermint 2 distros and the keyboard was not recognized on both distros. I can't go any further than the prompt to start the live version of the distro. Is this typical, or an anomaly?
The thought ran across my mind to install the distro using the old ps/2 ports, but it's not worth it to go through all of that if I still can't use the distro after its installed. Going to try to boot the live CD of the current version of #! that I run to see if I run into the same problem.
Downloaded the latest 32-bit distro today, and once the CD boots, I can't do anything because the keyboard is not recognized. Tried a USB keyboard, and still couldn't do anything. Used an adapter for the kb port and was then able to boot the live version of the distro. Howvever, once the live version was working, only the keyboard worked. The mouse didn't work, I assume because it is wireless as well.
I'm running the pre -11/25/11 version of #! right now, and the wireless keyboard and mouse are giving me no problems. Has anyone else run into this problem? How was it solved?
Thanks in advance,

Have had this problem since I installed Statler. Have searched posts but I have not seen anyone address this.
The Problem:
Statler boots up fine, everything seems to work (sometimes I have to reboot because the system randomly switches up my default soundcard). I can connect to my wireless internet connection fine, but after some time, the system disconnects from the internet and none of the possible wireless connections appear when I try to reconnect. I also find at this time that none of the USB ports recognize anything that's plugged into them. After a while, I am able to reconnect to the internet, but the USB ports' functionality never returns until I restart the computer.
Anyone with some ideas on how to solve this?

When you installed it did you run it with the --no-desktop option? That's what I do in openbox and nautilus + nitrogen has given me no problems so far...
Are you sure you got everything that came with it? Perhaps some config files got changed such as .gtk-2.0.rc, I would recommend looking at the text in them to see what is going on.
I did not run it with --no-desktop option (didn't know there was one). I did look in the .gtk-2.0.rc file and the .gtk-2.0.mine.rc file. The "mine" file is empty. Not sure if it should be that way. The other one seems to have what was in setup in the gnome-control-center.
I installed Nautilus today and ran it. once it was run, it overrode my old defaults. I have since uninstalled it and the other components that came with it, but now when I startup, my nitrogen wallpaper shows up, only to have the old default Crunchbang wallpaper to be applied over it. When I go into nitrogen to change it back, it says my nitrogen wallpaper is the one being used. Also, the lxappearance is now not working correctly. Installed icon themes, and other themes won't appear correctly, nor work when applied.
What could be the problem and how can I fix it?
I inadvertently restarted my computer without cleanly shutting down my system the other day, and had to go through fsck to upon restarting. Since then I have been unable to access my system as I get a Kernel panic message. It appears that fsck moved all the files from the etc folder to the Lost & Found folder. How do I put them back?

Closing out this post since I was able to accomplish getting to a command line and accessing fsck to check drives.
Well, I was able to check the drive with fsck once I set a password for sudo. Fsck made a fix, tried to boot in normally from hard drive, same freeze occurs. Could be a file missing, dunno. Whatever init is, something is missing that I can't boot the system. In using the LiveCD, I can access my normal home folder (which is on another partition of the drive) and open most folders. Wanted to get to the command line to see if fsck would help to bring my system back. Are there any other things I can try? Anymore info needed?
Okay, this time I was able to at least get to this point:
1. Used fsck in terminal from LiveCD and pointed to what the file manager indicated was the correct drive/partition (/media/disk)
2. Got this response:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>3. This is what the return was for all of the disks/partitions when I attempted to run fsck or e2fsck.
What should I try next?
I tried running fsck in the terminal, and I got a "permission denied" statement
If your computer has an optical drive, try running fsck from a LiveCD.
Is this before or after the LiveCD boots into Crunchbang?
Tried loading Recovery Mode. Never made it to any fsck option. Computer freezes (All Caps indicator and another indicator blink) and this message is last:
Init: Error parsing configuration: Not a directory
4.648826]Kernal panic - not syncing. Attempted to kill init!
4.648901] Dumping ftrace buffer:
4.648961] ftrace buffer emptyNot sure what to do to get back to fsck or do something which can get system to boot correctly.
I have recently come up against a kernel panic msg. Inadvertently restarted my computer and had to run fsck to try to fix things. X window system would not work. Tried to restart again and get the kernel panic msg. Is there any way to boot into the command line so that I can try to run fsck again, as my system freezes when trying to boot into crunchbang.
I'm sure I may have to give some more information regarding the kernel panic situation, just can't right now because I am on my way to work.
I don't really want to try to re-install crunchbang at the risk of losing all the program setups and files that I have.
