#1 Help & Support (Stable) » Itunes on #! » 2011-06-28 19:31:15

Hey
I'm debating switching my main computer to #! and only program I'm really concerned about is iTunes (recently bought an iPod Nano 4th Gen). I know on Ubuntu you can get it working through WINE, was wondering if it's the same on #! or if there is an easier way (if it's impossible to get iTunes any alternatives would be appreciated)

thanks

and unline Ubuntu I noticed

gksudo -u root nautilus

Thx

#5 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » Frostwire Fatal Error Problem (java?) » 2011-03-30 02:35:33

ran killall tint2

then tried to run frostwire, however leads to same error.

However is changing to xfce rather than tint2 a good practice in general?

#7 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » Typing Korean with #! » 2011-01-27 22:23:32

Hey sry for the late reply was super busy with school and kinda just forgot about this,
for Input method i have 'Korean- Korean'
Enable or Disable to 'Control+Space'
Next Input Method 'Alt_R'

yet i press Control Space and Alt_R and still unsuccessful in typing Korean. Am I missing something?

#8 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » Typing Korean with #! » 2011-01-18 01:52:30

Alright thx, will be waiting for the reply smile

#9 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » Typing Korean with #! » 2011-01-17 22:28:42

Hey again,
a bit more details. I'm not 100% what my language is set to. It's english (canada) maybe tried to change it to en_US with no luck. Finally had to resort to adding setxkbmap US to autostart.sh to be able to use all my symbols (!@#$%^&*())

Also for the Korean issue in SCIM > Global Setup > Keyboard Layout there is no dropdown for Korean, however it was selected to "unknown" as default. It's weird cuz all the other east asian languages are showing up such as chinese, japanese, etc.

Seems language support for #! is alot more complicated than for Ubuntu

Hey, been on Ubuntu for a while and just coming back to #!. Was wondering if there's any easy way to get Korean working. Followed several tutorials, so far I've installed the Korean fonts and can read them well. Installed SCIM and have it sitting on my panel. However I believe it may be configured wrong.

I've got the toggle language as Right_Alt however after pressing language does not happen (using Chrome). If anyone have easy to follow tutorials or tips I'd appretiate it.

Thx

my bro has a nifty IBM X40 which he doesn't use very often (he's in the market for a new netbook) maybe i should purchase a cheaper netbook and trade for the X40? IBM's known to produce nice laptops (not sure about compatibility) however it's been running rather slowly for him lately (hopefully it's just a virus problem since he's running windows)

#12 Re: Off Topic / General Chat » Getting a New Laptop and need help! » 2010-02-21 14:54:25

thx for replies but i just figured out that staples isn't sending me a cheque for 608 but rather store credit...

my choices are rather limited now to eeepc 1001p (11 hrs of battery life seems rather intriguing, also not too expensive 380 before taxes) or waiting for a bit and see what comes out to staple's shelves

would've loved to get a dell since all reports show pretty much perfect compatibility with Ubuntu

and staples doesn't sell any that comes with Linux but comes with Win7 which can't hurt (running it on a desktop atm and i'm not hating it tongue)

Hey, staples just claimed my laptop as no longer "economically repairable" so they bought it out for $608
So i'm thinking of getting a desktop and a cheaper laptop that'll get me to school and back

looking through online anyone of  these seems reasonable (quite close to my home) and think it'll run quite fast with #! attached to it

or can u recommend any cheap laptop/netbooks?

thx

#15 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [SOLVED] LCD Monitor Dims to Almost 0 after Long Use » 2009-12-29 23:22:13

well still have warrenty but i took it into a small local shop first (didn't feel like waiting 2 months while Staples fixed it) and they told me it was a fried mainboard fixable for $150 and seeing as i'm quite broke I dont have a laptop while Staples fixes it big_smile

anyways, thx for all the help tongue

#16 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [solved] new to crunchbang; some questions... » 2009-12-29 23:19:43

i could be wrong (i often am) but isn't c,d recovery like subpartitions?
so ur hardrive would be divided into

[ext3][ntfs] and under ntfs u'd have c,d, recovery

not sure about the 2nd part

#17 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [SOLVED] LCD Monitor Dims to Almost 0 after Long Use » 2009-12-27 18:13:13

well true
it just happened to me again after 2-3 hours of gaming

so i turned off the laptop then rebooted but it kept shutting itself down right before the login screen
after 5 min or so i booted back in and it flickered a few times but screen is staying on

i'll probably take it into the shop see what's what soon

thx

EDIT: trying to test this problem out more
i left the computer on for hours just watching videos and the lights have not dimmed at all
thus can i somewhat conclude that this is the game software problem or graphics card problem?

#18 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [SOLVED] LCD Monitor Dims to Almost 0 after Long Use » 2009-12-27 15:58:49

haven't tested it out completely yet (since it only started happening yesterday) but i will try turning it off and turning it back on right after

if it is the hardware would it be the LCD monitor itself or the Graphics Card?

Hi

I own a Gateway M-6874h and i've used it for a year and a half or so (with alot of gaming done on it)
I run Crunchbang Lite and just noticed yesterday that after a long while of use (gaming) the screen goes almost black. If i look REALLY carefully i can still see a bit of it but impossible to use it comfortablely.

Haven't used #! long and not sure if it's the OS's fault or something else. I doubt its hardware since if i shutdown for a while and turn back on LCD works again...

any help appretiated

thx
