Could you provide which tutorial you used to load #! Onto the drive? Are you using Windows to do said loading?
Also, are you purging windows from your netbook? Or dual booting? Edit: a little hardware info wouldn't hurt eitherThank you!
I used the tutorial that's on this site: http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=23267 but followed the Windows instructions to create the usb drive.
As part of the setup I asked it to completely nuke the windows version that was already on there, so it's crunchbang only machine.
Hardware wise, this is what we've got:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core U5600 Processor
2GB DDR3 RAM Memory
320GB Hard Drive
Intel HD Graphics
11.6" HD display (16:9 widescreen)
1.3 MP fixed-focus integrated webcam
Integrated 801.11b/g/n WiFi. Intel Centrino Advanced-N+ WiMAX 3 x 3 AGNOkay, have you tried rewriting the #! iso to the USB drive with other software? did you pick the right .iso version (32bit)?
It could be a permissions issue, are you running the USB writing software as an administrator?
I picked the 64 bit version as the previous version of windows on the machine was 64bit - should I have opted for the 32 bit option?
I haven't tried the other options, but I absolutely can.

Yes, but only using supergrubdisk. I've tried upgrading grub and reinstalling too.
sorry, i don't understand.
were you able to boot the live session that is one of the options on the crunchbang install medium?
that means, running crunchbang without installing it? booting from usb?
i really don't see how supergrubdisk comes into it, or upgrading grub.... :scratchhead:
Apologies, I misunderstood your question.
I didn't try to boot the live session without installing, I installed straightaway.
Once it was installed, i using supergrubdisk allowed me to bypass the grubloader and allow me to use the operating system itself.
Welcome!

Hi all,
Completely new to linux and crunchbang, so please go easy on me!
Bit of backstory -
I got a netbook a few years ago with windows 7 on it and in all honesty, i've barely ever used it. It got slower and slower until the point of being impossible to use.
As such, I thought i'd finally give linux a whirl!
Did a bit of searching and crunchbang was highly recommend as a lightweight version.
Anywho, chucked it on a USB stick and installed, following all instructions.
Unfortunately, when I boot the netbook, I just get stuck at 'GRUB Loading' with the cursor blinking over and over.
I have been able to circumvent this by using supergrubdisk and bypassing grub.
I've done a bit of googling but can't find anything that has helped (have reinstalled grub etc).
I've also run 'bootinfoscript' and these are the results:
