Probably another stupid n00b question in which everyone will groan at me, but how do I install the nvidea graphics card drivers?
I opened the restricted device manager and it had 3 drivers to choose from (117 was recommended) when I select 117 and click activate a window appears saying its downloading and installing, but the progress never moves above 0% and eventually it just stops working on me!
Does anyone have an alternative way to install the drivers that an idiot like me could follow, or a fix for whats going wrong here?
I can't see anything in the error_log...
However, when I typed sudo /etc/init.d/cups start I get the following error:
*starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd
cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
(And fail is displayed in red on the right hand side.)
Any idea what this means?
Regular. Any other info you need?
Would now be a very bad time to say that the New Printer option is greyed out?
God I feel stupid right now. I tried gksudo to make sure I was using root privileges, still cant even click the new option.
Perhaps I've done something wrong... I downloaded the two deb files you suggested. Installed them using gdebi and it said it installed them fine. But the printer settings window remains completely empty!
Is there anything you can suggest for this?
Alright heres another stupid question, I'm a complete n00b at linux so I'll need this to be explained clearly:
How can I install a driver for my Brother MFC-260C printer?
I'm completely clueless as to what I'm meant to be doing here, and the lack of printer is the only reason I keep switching back to windows. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks danny, the thunderbird tutorial worked after a few minutes of playing. Thanks for the quick replys guys
Can anyone post instructions on how to retrieve emails from hotmail accounts using either claws mail or thunderbird?
Please bear in mind I'm a complete noob with linux (This is my first time using it ever) so could you please make it really clear? Thanks guys
