Okay guys, here's the fix. I had this problem myself, and fixed it by changing two files.
First:
sudo nano /etc/apt/apt.conf
Then delete (or edit) the contents of the file and ctrl+x to exit, then 'y' to save.
Then:
sudo nano /etc/profile.d/proxy.sh
And again, delete or edit the contents, ctrl+x to exit, 'y' to save.
