This maybe completely irrelevant / useless...
Any mileage in something along the lines:iwconfig [interface] ESSID appropriate-network-id iwconfig [interface] key open?
Caveat: I haven't got a clue what I'm doing, I just hit google up for suggestions.

Please, check what I wrote in your other thread and post the info I asked for. Then, *describe* your problem. By that I mean: Can you see the network in network manager? What happens when you try to connect (errors, messages...)? Can you connect to it from other devices?
its only show my wpa network that is my boradband but i have a router the network maneger don't show it and when try to connect to my open by entering its eesid it goes back to my wpa network
Perhaps you can configure it in /etc/network/interfaces:
auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid mynetworkname wpa-key-mgmt NONEPlease change wlan0 and mynetworkname.
it not wpa thats the problem i can "ONLY" connect to WPA networks But i CAN*T JOIN OPEN NETWORKS!
No i have open network like my router i can't connect to that 
so when i installed crunch and installed my driver now i can only join Wpa and wpa2 networks does anyone know what i did wrong in this? i have a broadcom bcm4313 please help it my school computer and i need it ;(
so i installed my drivers from a thread from here and now i can only see eesid that has a password like wpa and web i can't see any open eesid plz help me i have a broadcom wireless installed some tools from a tut here i can't find do you guys know how i can see open eesids?
