CrunchBang Linux

Hello everybody
I just installed chrunchbang on my laptop, everything went good except for the one thing: gray screen after login problem. It seems to be very popular topic so I wanted to share a simple, but strange, solution (at least in my case worked): before you login (username and password) try pressing F1, which will print something like "openbox-session" at the center of your screen. Then proceed like always with typing username and password.
I would like to know if someone found a different solution or maybe know why this one works.
