#1 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [Solved]Any way to sync Crunchbang date/time externally? » 2014-04-15 07:26:38

It works! Thank you very much!
Also i confirm that NTP displays the time correctly according to UTC + my timezone.

My CMOS battery died, so every time i boot in Crunchbang the clock is always screwed up.
It will take a bit for getting a new one, but meanwhile it is a bit annoying setting date/time correctly at every boot.
I recalled Windows having an option using external servers to sync the clock, so i wonder if there's such an option (or some script) in Crunchbang that allow me to do so.

Thanks in advance.

Guess i found Perl  big_smile thanks for the help, for Apache  i'll just look around.

I have installed and configured the LAMP packages by using the cb-welcome script. That one installed PHP, but is Perl already included in Crunchbang? I have tried to search around but i didn't find any instructions regarding how to install Perl.

I need to run some .pl scripts, i tried opening them within the browser but it just keeps saving the files rather than opening them.
The author of the scripts has also said to add perl support to the httpd.conf of apache2, but i can't find this file with catfish.

Thanks in advance.

#5 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [Solved] Help with IRC/XChat » 2014-03-23 11:14:11

Got some messages soon after having posted this topic, everything working as expected.

Thanks for the clarifications! I haven't taken into account the posting frequency, and immediately thought something was wrong on my end instead.

I'd just like to say first that i never used IRC, so correct me if i'm missing something crucial.

Anyway i saw XChat in the openbox menu few hours ago, and so i'm trying to give it a shot. I connected to the Crunchbang list, so far so good, however i see around 160 users connected to #crunchbang, but i am connected since 30 minutes and no message is appearing on the screen. I can only see the announcements of the users connecting to the channel (and eventually quitting for ping timeout).
Shouldn't all the messages be public and visible to the client by default? Or do i have to enable something in XChat in order to view them?

On a side note, upon connecting to the Cruchbang list i have been automatically connected to two channels: #crunchbang and #crunchbang-offtopic. However, upon entering on the second this appeared:

ChanServ sets ban on *!*@*my hostname*
* You have been kicked from #crunchbang-offtopic by ChanServ (You are not authorized to be on this channel)

Is it normal?

Thanks in advance.

#7 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [Solved] Can't open VirtualBox GUI » 2014-03-12 13:15:57

Solved! As iMBeCil said, i just had to download and install the deb package from the virtualbox website (and update sources.list). I had problems with some dependencies, but Synaptic fixed them.
Thank you all for your help.

I have installed VirtualBox from the wiki, however whether i try to type virtualbox in the terminal this happens:

bash: virtualbox: command not found

vboxmanage and vboxsdl do run in the terminal, but are only CLI based. How do i open the VirtualBox Manager GUI?
I also tried uninstalling everything and getting VirtualBox from the Crunchbang repos instead, but i have the same problem.
Both sources have also installed the relative packages such as dkms.

#9 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [Solved] ibus doesn't work at all » 2014-03-02 12:27:46

Found the problem. I added Debian Testing repos to the sources.list file, and evidently some of the newer packages entered in conflict with gtk.

After removing all the ibus and mozc relative packages, reverting the sources.list to the default one, and reinstalling ibus-mozc both work flawlessly as expected.

Thank you for your help!

Hello and greetings to the Crunchbang forums,

I have installed the package ibus-mozc according to this wiki page. However, once installed, the keyboard icon that should appear on the top-right of the screen is absent (i haven't altered tint2 in any way).
I tried to put"ibus restart" on the terminal but, whether i do it, Crunchbang almost freezes (i can still type on the terminal but the cursor disappear and i can't do anything else, even conky's clock gets struck showing the same time).
By browsing the filesystem i tried to open the ibus preferences utility, but upon double clicking nothing happened. So i tried opening it from the terminal, but a bunch of gtk warnings showed up instead:

user@Crunchbang:~$ ibus-setup

I have checked synaptic and the gtk packages for ibus are also installed. What can i do to make ibus work?
Thanks in advance.
