thanks for all the replies, restart Openbox to apply changes, noted
Dammit I was just coming on here after a reboot to try and delete this post. Yes the reboot fixed the issue, was the iceweasel shortcut just hanging out in the temporary files or something?
I am trying to change my default browser from iceweasel to chromium, and I downloaded chromium using the built in script, changedthe conky file to show super+w as the keyboard shortcut for Chromium instead of Web Browser. Finally I went into the rc.xml file to change the keyboard shortcut for super+w from iceweasel to chromium, using the cmd chromium-browser which successfully launches chromium from the terminal. However after making the change, I just scrolled down til I found the web browser shortcut in the file, it still launches iceweasel after pressing super+w. Did I miss something? I'll post the shortcut from the file below
<keybind key="W-w">
<action name="Execute">
<startupnotify>
<enabled>true</enabled>
<name>Chromium</name>
</startupnotify>
<command>chromium-browser</command>
</action>
</keybind>
sorry I tried creating a usb with unetbootin and when it got to that same install screen, it stated at the bottom the my system wasn't compatible with 64-bit, downloaded the 32-bit and it worked just fine. Didn't think the laptop was that old.
update: I put the live cd into my homebuild and it booted right into the live session, so maybe something particular about the sony vaio?
Yeah when hit enter on install I can hear the disc drive spin up then nothing happens, waited 10 minutes, nothing, and every time I would press a key i would get a beep. I'll try and re-download and see if it works
I'm trying to install #! 11 on my Sony Vaio and it gets oes to the first screen, live, install or memory test.If I hit live or install nothing happens it just sits and become unresponsive, but the mem test works. Anyone run across this?
Thanks for the replies. It is a decent amd dual core with embedded amd graphics and I have been running xbmc on top of mint xfce for a few years and would like something even more lightweight with less fluff installed. I have looked at openelec but I like having the option of jumping to a desktop of some type occasionally. Good to know it runs about the same, http://balintreczey.hu/blog/introducing … om-debian/, this article made it seem like there were a number of problems with xbmc from debian
I really like what I have been reading about crunchbang and openbox and am looking forward to giving it a try. I was thinking about using it as a base for my htpc. I did read somewhere thought that there is a specific xbmc for debian which uses debian libraries instead of the regular xbmc libraries? I was wondering if anyone here has experience with it and if there is any noticeable difference between using xbmc for debian vs on ubuntu?
