Okay, I found CH 8.04, that's what I'm gonna download. Ubuntu 8.04 is LTS so CH is too, I assume. That's it, I'm finished with 9.04:D
I've tried install it. First time the dependencies has caused a problem. After i solved it, the install had problem with my python verison (it was too "fresh" i needed an older python), i guess that's because the package is a 8.04 package. I don't know. Maybe i'm gonna look for an older version of CH. I just didn't find any yet.
Thanks for the link, I will try it today evening.
Thank you for your help.
I've made a little search and found out this is an ubuntu 9.04 bug with screen autodetection. There was an easy solution: diplayconfig-gtk from the older ubuntus (it worked : http://crunchbang.org/forums/topic/prob … resolution ). I can't do this because displayconfig-gtk is removed from repositories. I'm gonna trying the tips you gave me maybe tomorrow. Maybe I'm just gonna get an older version of CH. Or someting else:D
P.S. this is a big disappointment for me from ubuntu(and systems based on it)
No, it didn't helped.
My specs? This is an INtel Celeron 1.7GHz CPU with 768 MB RAM, a Geforce FX5500 GPU what else should I write? I have a 9.04 version of CH. I don't know which kernel is (it's the default which is on the cd). It's very funny reading a lot of topics with how good CH is and the skills it has got. And i just can't set a simple resolution. I don't want to search another distro just beacuse of this.
I've installed Envy. I ran it in text mode. The installation was successfull. Now I have 640*480 resolution.
And another thing I've discovered: i have to config my internet connection everytime i boot (pppoeconf). Is this because of 9.04 ubuntu? I had no problem with 7.10, but with the new releases... 8.04, etc. I'm worrying about 9.10....does my computer even work with it?:)
I remember, when I used Ubunu, I had the possibility to set my monitor's type, brand(trademark) and model. After this I could change resolution if I want
(Sry for the bad grammar again)
No, and I've tried to edit autostart.h or simply just typed in terminal: xrandr --size 1024x768 & reading mans...
Hi Im a new user too. And i have some problems. About screen size. The available maximum resolution is 800*600. I guess i need a driver to increase it. I've tried Nvidia drivers( I have a Geforce fx5500 card), finally i found the correct one, but when i installed it, the system has problems with it. Sorry for bad grammar, or bad reply. I'm gonna make a better one, im just curious about a solution.
Thanks for helping
P.I. I've made this : http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … a-drivers/ the install was success, but the system has errors with the driver.
