Do you even see other resolutions available (i.e. System->Display Settings->lxrandr)?
I'm running it via VMWare Fusion on a MacBook which has an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
I spoke too soon. Here's the (simple) option I was missing.
xrandr --size 1024x768 &
It's near the top of the autostart.sh file. It still boots in 800 x 600, but during the logon process, it switches to 1024 x 768. This is fine, but now I'm just curious. Is there no way of telling CrunchBang to stick do the default value for the monitor rather than using a login script? I've used Ubuntu, Fluxbuntu and SliTaz; all which set the monitor resolution permanently (just like a Windows or Mac would.) How is it done in #!?
No luck with the xrandr command. I don't see a "--mode" option, but there's a "--fb" and "--fbmm" that I messed with. Nothing changes it. I can only get the GUI versions to work, and then only until I reboot.
Add something like "xrandr --mode "1366x768" &" to your autostart.sh file.
Wow, now THAT'S user friendly!
It didn't work at first stab, but I'll keep monkeying with that command until someone posts a different suggestion. Thanks.
Thanks!
No dice, though. Still 800 x 600 after reboot.
I just installed CrunchBang for the first time, and have my first new-stupid-user question. Everything's great, except my default display settings are only 800 x 600. I can change them (via either lxrandr or gandr) but when I reboot, it's back to 800 x 600. What am I missing - how do I get it the setting to stick?
