personally, i had to use:

This didn't work either. I'll try to update the kernel lateron.

Yes, I changed it to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor" and no change after rebooting.

Hello,

I installed Crunchbang on my new Toshiba L850 and I've run in a couple of problems I haven't been able to solve through Google.

Regarding the screen brightness I tried to change it using various methods (xbacklight, trying setpci -s 01:00.0 F4.B=xx) but nothing seems to work.
xbacklight -dec 10 returns "No outputs have backlight property" and setpci -s 01:00.0 F4.B=xx doesn't change anything.

Regarding the FN keys, I tried this guide: http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=29723 but the FN keys are still not working.

Please help!

Alright, I'll just reinstall it. But what did I do wrong? I still want to install the newest Wine version and apparently it depends on the newest libc6 version.

Hi,

I wanted to install the newest Wine on my Crunchbang and it said I should update my libc6 package. I followed this guide: http://stackoverflow.com/a/15766756 and after rebooting my system won't start anymore. This is the error message I get when booting the system:

How badly did I fuck up?

Alright, thanks again to everyone who helped.

Yay, I was able to login  ops Is this a permanent fix? If not, what's wrong with the OS and how do I fix it?

Thanks for your help!

Well, I tried a LiveUSB of another Linux OS and it worked perfectly. Do you want me to start Crunchbang from a LiveUSB?

I have Dropbox installed but I haven't been using it lately. I can't tell you why it's there.

I don't see the cursor after logging in. Commenting the lines out didn't help.
What do you mean with your second sentence?

#14 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » [SOLVED] CPR worked » 2013-05-15 13:02:38

ctrl-alt-f8 after I log in the system? The screen turns black then with a white _ blinking in the upper left corner.

Autostart:

Adding nomodeset didn't help, I still get the grey screen.

It seems that I managed to destroy a usb flash drive in the process of copying the debug file on it, oh man.

Yep, lots of errors. How did this happen lol. The only remotely advanced thing I did was create a 50gb truecrypt file in my documents folder.

The output is too long for pastebin apparently neutral

How exactly do I post the content of it? It doesn't seem to be a folder and I can't access it.

I don't understand what you mean with your second sentence, the FN key?

My laptop is Lenovo G570 with an ATI card, correct.

This is the result of the dpkg command:

Did you change the autostart file perhaps? Added a command without terminating &?

No, all I did was using generic programs like eclipse and surfing.

I updated and upgraded the system, which didn't help.

This is the xorg.0,log after I stop and start my display managers:

What else do you guys need?

Yes I do. I already tried the recovery mode as well.
It turns greyish when I reach the Crunchbang login menue and type in my login and password.
Yes, I type in my login and password and I can work in the console with no problems.

Hey,

I've been using Crunchbang for about 3-4 weeks now and had no problems until now. Today I restarted my laptop because the system was already on for several days but I couldn't log in the system anymore. If I type in the correct information the screen turns greyish and nothing happens after that. Otherwise the laptops beeps (like it should).

What can I do? I feel pretty lost.
