I thought this tip was pretty sweet, I took it one step further and used devilspie to match the windows and its spawnsync option to control wmctrl

I have it set up to have chat windows spawn on desktop2 (so i can find them faster in the taskbar, since tint2 has a split taskbar for desktop1 and 2 by default)

and then I tried to autorename my most common programs so they would look prettier in my taskbar, and be smaller, Two Letters to be exact.

I wanted Firefox to be FF terminator to be TM and pcmanfm to be FM

only, none of them are renaming, Pidgin windows rename, but i cant get firefox, wesnoth, or terminator to rename

I tested the wmctrl in terminal and its working flawlessly:  wmctrl -ar firefox -T FF
I believe the problem is that they all rename themselves after they've been loaded, I tried assigning a sleep function to the spawnsync, but no avail.

Any help?
