#1 Re: Help & Support (Stable) » Cannot Get Live USB working (64 bit Waldorf) » 2013-02-24 11:27:16

Alright, so I've tried a few things since, but still nothing works. Here's a list of what I have tried:
-Redownloading the image
-Trying the 32bit version
-Trying a different PC
-Trying multiple ways of creating the stick(dd, unetbootin, universal usb creator, rawwrite32)
-Different USB sticks ( I tried one 2GB, 1GB, and a brand-new just-bought 16GB USB3.0)
I haven't the slightest clue of what I am doing wrong. I've been able to successfully boot up a LiveUSB of Archlinux, and the images seem to be fine to me as I've used them for virtual machines. The only thing I haven't tried yet is using a Statler image, but I want the newest version obviously.
Like I mentioned before, the closest I've gotten to having it load is a "boot:" prompt. I have no idea what I am supposed to do with this, as I assumed the liveUSB would give me a menu, or just boot right into the OS. As far as I can gather, this is what I am getting wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe you should try the dd-method again, but not from a virtual environment.  dd-ing from an installed system always worked for me.

I would, but the only linux environment I have is virtual because I can't install it physically. I've tried the dd method a few times, and with different usb devices. I know it isn't an issue with my desktop either, as I've had Fedora installed on it before. I ended up wiping the drive however, so I don't have access to it anymore.
I just tried using the LiLi USB Creator, and that gave me a "Boot error" and that's it.
I'm beginning to think this might not be worth the headaches

Hello #! community!
I've been looking into a lightweight distro to use on my desktop, and I decided on Crunchbang. However, I am having major issues getting it installed.
First of all, I have tried both methods on here: http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/statler … stallation . The closest I've gotten to having the live environment load up is what I believe is the Syslinux boot menu. At this point, it tells me something along the lines of  the default boot image cannot be found, and I am given a "boot:_" prompt. Nothing I type in seems to work. The downloaded iso itself is fine, I installed #! onto a virtual machine using it just fine, and used that environment to format the usb with the dd method.
I am at a complete loss here. I've tried everything. I don't have a CD drive, so that is not an option; I need a bootable USB.
Thanks in advance!
