hello #! peoples
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … nd-asound/ (a post i made a while back when asound was alive)
that solution worked just fine for me with the last #! release....but now.. not, asoundconf is no more
i have googled the !@#$% out of this and i am unable to find a similiar solution. my headphone works ok with VLC as i can select the sound card in VLC's preferences. but with MPD, iceweasel etc. im not so sure how to fix it.
preferably i would like all sound to use either the usb headphones or speakers and be able to switch back and forth without rebooting. I would also prefer not to use pulseaudio, but am open.
i ran these with my headset plugged in:
nigel@serendipity:~$ cat /proc/asound/modules
0 snd_intel8x0
1 saa7134_alsa
2 snd_usb_audio
nigel@serendipity:~$ aplay -L

pulse audio* my bad
Hello, i have been using #! for 6 months now and have been very pleased, thank you for all your efforts
i have a creative hs 1200 usb headset. currently using #! 9.04.01 64 bit.
so i have been on a little journey with asound and alsa on how to get the usb headset working with individual programs and as default soundcard for entire computer.
i wanted to be able to switch between headset and speakers(ck804) as default soundcard and have it usable by my patient yet non geeky type wife. my solution was to create 2 openbox menu entries:
Label: speakers Execute: /home/me/.scripts/asoundCK804 script: asoundconf set-default-card CK804
Label: Headset Execute: /home/me/.scripts/asoundheadset script: asoundconf set-default-card Headset
is this an ok way to do this, is there a better way?
it seems to work fine as long as i restart the program(s) to use the new sound setting and volwheel allows me adjust the volume setting then for the selected card. i would LIKE to use the volume adjustment on the actual headset but it appears that isnt possible?
would sound pulse help/work? i have never used it as i have only used openbox on archlinux and crunchbox
any help or discussion would be appreciated. thank you* for your time people
thanks for posting actually, i had the same question
