Hello,
I am new under Linux and i am using Xubuntum atm. I would really like to try Crunchbang but I had to post here after unsuccessfull installation attempts during the last 24 hours.
I checked the md5 sum of the iso everything is fine, i burned it several times on a DVD RW with different speeds SUO and TUO but still it doesnt work. I tried to make a live USB key successfully with the command line dd and even once with Unetbootin, but still it doesnt work.
What is happening is that when I boot with the CD or USB, i am blocked in the POST screen ("Press ESC to enter BIOS") and even tho the computer is reading the USB/DVD device, nothing happens... It can't boot to the install screen.
I already had this problem several times, always blocked at the POST screen.
I booted succesfully on:
xubuntu 12.04 (kernel 3.2.14) (my current OS)
SliTaz 4.0 (?)
Puppy Lucid (kernel 2.6.33.2)
I couldn't boot on:
#! 10 Stable (2.6) and Backport(3.2), 32bit and 64bit, USB and DVD, i tried everything lol!
Archbang 2012-05-02 (?)
Archlinux (?)
Linux Mint 13 Maya (3.0 ?)
Linux Mint Debian (3.0 ?)
My computer is a laptop HPelitebook 8530p, intel centrino2 2.4Ghz, 4G ram.
I had windows vista installed with a partition and Ubuntu 8 installed too on a duo boot, then when I installed Xubuntu, i formated everything and deleted both. Maybe it deleted something in the boot program?
Atm I honestly don't know what to do as I am stuck with Xubuntu. Maybe is there a way to install Crunchbang directly from Xubuntu without having to boot? Or maybe I should install another better boot program?
Thanks for reading.
