Cleary not and seeing as this is joshuapurcell's first post this is hardly the way to entice him to become part of your community
I really must have a good look at Bedrock and see what all the fuss is about. Perhaps a bit more positive discussion here will help me decide
Thanks for your input @joshuapurcell.
You single-handedly redeemed my first impression of the crunchbang community, thanks!
I'm surprised one of the greatest features (to me anyway) that this distribution provides hasn't been discussed yet (if it has I apologize).
Installing binary packages which only like to be installed in specific distributions can now work within my favorite Linux distro just as well. Take for example various IBM applications... many people need to use these and other similar applications for work, but they don't want to necessarily be stuck with the distribution these applications require. These applications don't provide source, so compiling to suit your favorite distro is impossible. At the same time, any future updates to these packages which are provided by the developers of these closed-source apps will only be provided in the same form as the original package (so generating a deb from an RPM, for instance, can be time consuming and at times problematic).
I've ran a Linux VM (for work) on my Linux host (for everything else) for years now... it would be awesome to have an easy way to get the function these two (or more) systems provide in a single system. There is no other distribution that can handle this.
By the way I'm new to this forum and this distribution (crunchbang)... I'll definitely be checking it out soon (likely as a bedrock client).
