CrunchBang Linux

hi I recently reinstalled crunchbang , everything worked fine except one niggling little thing, secondlife, , the second I load it on ANY viewer be it pheonix, dolphin , firestorm, the official slviewer the login window comes through as a scrambled mess making login imposible, then the window freeze so not even kill -9 has an effect, any suggestion would be appreciated as I need a working viewer as one of my partners is currently away in madrid studying and we use sl to keep in touch and so we can bo0th cuddle somewhere even if it is online. I know the ystem can handle sl as I was uing it on another distro till it went to hell.
