Something I've noticed with every linux distro I've installed on my netbook, especially crunchbang, is that linux makes my netbook run too hot!
I usually like to lay down with my netbook on my chest or on my lap but with it being so hot I can't stand having 50-60c heat pumping into me, not only that but the Acer Aspire One AOD257 has a tendancy to shutdown at random when it gets a little too warm (but not the limit of the atom cpu inside which i think is like 80-90c). I really need to find a way to get the netbook running cooler like it does in Windows 7. I read it has something to do with Windows being optimised for netbooks/laptops but linux doesnt have the same power managment and thus lets everything run at full speed.
I hope someone can help me with this, I hate sitting up when I'm not at a desk (and on a couch with the backrest always down since its my bed)
Ok I really coudnt wait so I went with the synaptic way. Im now in a XFCE session but now I've noticed that everything I put in my home folder appears on my desktop...
I'm new to crunchbang and openbox and I'm having problems with my mouse. When I try to middle/scroll wheel click to open a link in a new tab (In say chrome or iceweasle) it doesnt work all the time. Even if I mash the scroll wheel or try other things I might get a tab to open every 1 in 10 tries.
I seriously need to get this fixed as right clicking or using CTRL+Click will just drive me nuts (I browse through the net alot)
Hopefully theres something that can fix my scroll wheel clicking problem...
Ok so I'm new here but I'm not new to linux or computers, but I am new to crunchbang, openbox, and most of debian (I'm an Ubuntu and PuppyLinux person)
Anyways, I'm sorry if this has been asked like a million times before, but it's something I'd like to get working.
I just installed crunchbang 10 (32bit) on my Netbook (1.6GHz CPU, 2GB DDR3 Ram, 128MB Intel GMA 3150) and I have to say it's performance is rather nice (though I've yet to use it for things like Minecraft and Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe). Though I'm not really one for openbox (too sparten for me)
I want to get XFCE4 and all its glory on crunchbang, or at least the looks and the menus. I don't really like that I can't easily change the settings and location of the taskbar/panel in crunchbang (I prefer my taskbar/panels to the left side so I can have more vertical space)
Anyway to easily get this to work? I'm up for running synaptic or terminal but i'd rather not compile my code if I can.
