wtf

i just insertet the dvd i couldn't get to work the last view days, now it's working
it gets mounted automatically, it's playable like it should be, thunar shows a cdrom icon..
it's like nothing ever stopped working... does somebody have an idea why that is so.
(didn't changed a config, didn't changed the kernel... i did nothing even related with this issue
update: well that's kinda strange... when i reinsert the disk a view times, after about 5 tried, it works...
the disk is new and works without problems in my dvd player connect to the tv. also my dvd drive hasn't had any problems. and now, only this disk causing such problems.
i exported the dmesg. maybe you know what is going on
http://bluephoenix.at/stuff/dmesg.log
using /dev/scd0 didn't work out
where can i get a .ifo file, i couldn't find one?
and no, if i insert the dvd no cdrom/dvdrom symbol in thunar (file manager) shows up
i did the strace thing and uploaded the output file to my server
http://bluephoenix.at/stuff/vlc.trace
i hadn't found time to test the items machinebacon mentioned

brw-rw-rw-+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 Jul 1 20:16 sr0hello there,
i use crunchbang for a while now and today i encountered an issue i can't resolve. of course i did some researching on the problem, but didn't come up with a solution.
main problem is, i can't play the dvd i recently bought. sound and video are working fine on my laptop. Other CDs like audio cds or data cds work without problem, just dvds.
no mater if i use totem or vlc (i prefer vlc)
when i want to play the dvd within vlc, i go to MEDIA > OPEN DISK, device is /dev/dvd which points to sr0 and of course has rw permissions for everyone. when i hit play i get following errors:
Playback failure:
DVDRead could not open the disc "/dev/dvd".
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///dev/dvd'. Check the log for details.i tried to mount the device manually without success.
$ mount /dev/scd0
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0fstab:
# cdrom
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0/media/cdrom is existing, of course
i can't even cat the device file itselfe:
$ cat /dev/sr0
cat: /dev/sr0: No medium found
i think something is wrong here..
kernel is 2.6.39
Is it this bug:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … 34111-bug/
I suppose you could try compiling the latest Openbox.
well, thank you.
yes that looks like the bug i encountered.
hello everyone,
i use crunchbang for a while, and it's really great. But i recently encountered a bug:
then i open the window menu of a window (usually by hitting alt + space) and then hit the right cursor button. X crashes.
does somebody else has the same problem, and does somebody know how to fix this?
