Is BunsenLabs gtk2 or gtk3?
Offline
All Bunsen GTK themes have both gtk2 and gtk3 versions with the bunsen-themes package currently hard-depending on libgtk3. So gtk3 the library will be installed by default although all (most?) GUI tools are gtk2.

The gtk3 apps I can think of that are or will be in the full ISO...
file-roller
transmission-gtk
gdebi
synaptic
catfish
evince
network-manager-gnome (nm-applet)
policykit-1-gnome
You can find out what packages you have installed use gtk3 by running...
sudo apt-get purge libgtk-3-common -s
The -s switch will simulate what apt-get will do without actually changing anything on your system.
There is no Linux OS that I'm aware of that is exclusively gtk3. The GNOME desktop still uses plenty of packages that are gtk2.
With the addition in gtk3/GNOME of Client Side Decorations (CSD), getting all apps to look the same is currently impossible, AFAIK. The Bunsen themes try to make them look reasonably close.

I asked this question, because we change the look through gtk2 apps, Lxappearance and Openbox Config Manager. They work with the gtk3 apps--hhh mentioned them--without the need of gtk3 part of the themes. Nothing happens, even if I delete the gtk3 folder in the theme folder.

gtk3 apps should use the default gtk3 theme if there isn't one in the theme set by lxappearance.

Yes, they'll use Adwaita.
