For those in testing, this might be a problem in your future, or maybe not.
For people running sid - unstable - the following link might be good advice. But then again maybe he is wrong. I just know that Santa knows a lot more than I know.

Thank you for the heads up and the links. I had read about this, but I don't believe there were warnings included with the info. I'll be closely monitoring the Siduction forums if necessary. Santa was referring to issues with KDE, so I'm not sure if there will also be issues with openbox and/or tint2.

There was a big fuss over GCC 5 when it went through in Arch a few months ago but in the end it was entirely uneventful.
I will be dist-upgrading my sid system daily (as usual) so I'll post back here if there are any problems.

Bug #777778 caught my eye - it shows the progress of the ongoing squashing of one gcc bug and how one problem interconnects with the other.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo … bug=777778 Many more of these.
Yeah, "apt-get dist-upgrade -d" to download and view what the damage would be, and I have done two "apt-get upgrades". Next upgrade has more systemd223-2 upgrades, might wait.
apt-get -s upgrade

edited added this August 05 My sid(uction) system is still doing well, but the next post is probably good advice. I have gone to doing "apt update" (it has colours - wow) and the outcome today is
121 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them.
I stop after doing that. Doing nothing is probably better.
As far as testing is concerned, on a totally different machine with Sparkylinux4 (Debian testing) in an old acer atom netbook with e19 and lxqt no attempts by apt-get distupgrade to remove any programs - so far.
patience.

Hi all. Just thought I'd let you know that most of us over at LinuxBBQ have dist-upgraded with no ill effects. That of course does not mean to blindly go upgrade. If you notice anything unusual, like a crap load of packages set to be removed, then best wait. I waited till just about a few days ago. Good Luck!

I just dist-upgraded my laptop a little over an hour ago. I was then able to install the remainder of my favorite apps except for guayadeque. My laptop is now sporting LibreOffice 5.0.1.1 under BL-Unstable...woo hoo!
FYI: I installed BL and then switched the repos to Debian Unstable right when the gcc5 transition began, so I wasn't able to install some of my favorite apps.
