That's why i do no dist-upgrade on sid. Synaptic tells me what will be installed/removed/upgraded. So i have the choice to bork or not to bork my system(s).
That said - cups update from 1.75 to 2.0.x broke detection of windows7-samba-printers in my office install. That was not funny.

apt-get dist-upgrade will tell a user the same things.
On another note, I tried installing the new package again yesterday and there are currently serious bugs with the package. Time to just sit and wait things out.
