^ I can't find "cairo-compmgr" in the repos, where did you get it?
Or do you mean: xcompmgr? That's in the repos.

I saw that to but dismissed it because of the date: décembre 13th, 2007 - I'll stay with compton.

Heyhey. 8o
I dont know if anybody remembers my nickname because i have not been here in months... Yet i have a few questions before i would download and install Bunsenslabs .
1 - Crunchbang provides an insanely responsive and functional experience directly out of the box for a poulsbo GMA 500 chipset, and i have never been able to replicate the exact same responsivenes in all areas while using other systems... So is there any chance that Somebody behind Bunsenlabs understands or knows why #! seems to be doing what it does for that chipset ?
2 - Can anybody vouch for Bunsenlabs when it comes to trust ? I would not like to run this to then discover a l33t haxor problem running on the system somewhere... ]:D

~ When jessie hits stable you could upgrade crunchbang and keep it alive a bit longer.

...install Bunsenslabs .
Bunsen Slabs (BS for short)... yeah, we went with BL. You don't have to install it, you can run it Live for testing or grub recovery or partitioning or whatever.
re: 1. Nope.
re: 2. All your base are belong to us.

BL is based on Debian Stable, so any security issues there are nothing to do with us! The only packages installed, apart from artwork, themeing etc are from Debian repos.
BL-specific scripts have been put together by the BL devs, who are all long-time crunchbangers and several are @corenominal-approved forum moderators.

Bunsen-slabs... It seems i have need for some sleep. BunsenLabs as the thread title says... although a slab of concrete might do.
1 ; Damn..
2 ; Somebody set us up the bomb !

So it remains a leap of faith like with all new or small less known distribtions.

Except that all the BunsenLabs content, apart from image files, is in the form of text files which you can easily open and read.

I might check it out one day or another, the only thing i would note ; do not forget a default firewall / ipfilters set-up...

Hi exi! Long time no see...
do not forget a default firewall / ipfilters set-up...
But I don't want a default firewall -- I have no listening services active so it would just be needless bloat...
Also:
sudo apt-get install gufw
sudo gufw

a. Perhaps you could do a lil web search and find answers like this
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … l-computer
before writing "scary" notes that ends with 3 dots...
b. How is bunsen behaving with poulsbo GMA 500 chipset... ?

Hey Head_on_a_Stick. You have been bussy on the ARCH forums i think. ]:D
hmm.
No matter how i look at it, any decent system should concider it. Maybe thats just me, but i like my basic and extended security. Even open source software needs stopping power (if you get what i mean).
Brontosaurusrex ;
I have not yet downloaded BunsenLabs to run it on that machine, the note was a generalized mention.

With an attitude like that, one could attract a nice and technical hard-core fan base of unfriendly rejects. Maybe they could be so simple to jump to conslusions about people they dont know while basing themselves upon illusions they see in forum posts. Kind of the opposite of what Crunchbang inspired. ]:D
----
I'm just going wait until this might reach a more mature state. It does not read as if this has any plan or purpose beyond wanting to attract a select user base of Crunchbang refugees. no hard feelings. {)

Bunsen - like most other Linux distros comes with "iptables" installed and set to a comfortable default.

They don't necessarily. It is what @hhh used in the alpha iso.
