Suggestion for Distro

Could anyone suggest a good alternative to Crunchbang that is available now?

I would like a Debian(Not ubuntu) based distro with lxde, openbox or even xfce.

I did try Linux Mint Debian edition a while ago, but not sure if that is still an ongoing project.

Re: Suggestion for Distro

@monkeyx: As Head-on-a-Stick noted, LMDE was buggy and slow, but it has improved if you like MATE or Cinnamon. The forthcoming LMDE 2 Betsy is currently being devloped in Jessie but will become based on Debian stable when Jessie does. It looks promising, so I'll probably try it to see how it compares to the Ubuntu-based LM 17.1. In short, it's not a minimalist distro with a minimalist DE, but the devs are good and the forums are helpful.

Re: Suggestion for Distro

I've been using Debian Jessie LXDE almost exclusively since Papanominal set us up the bomb.  I've gotta say, it's very not bad.  It actually feels a little more responsive on my desktop than Waldorf did. yikes

You might look at Semplice that uses Openbox

Re: Suggestion for Distro

Think I will give a SoyldXK a try. Like the look of that one smile Will also try vanilla non-free Debian for size as well.

Cruchbang one of the few projects I have ever made a financial contribution to. It has just been a rock steady Desktop for several years without the need to Distro hop

Re: Suggestion for Distro

lubuntu: LXDE and Openbox. You copy 4 or 5 config files, remove some Canonical crap and... it rocks. Surprisingly.
