So With Debian releasing the names of the next 2 releases (here)
Codenames
=========Our release managers chose the following codenames for future
releases:* Debian 9 "Stretch"
* Debian 10 "Buster"
Anyone want to start guessing on #! names?
To bad we are back at "S" again but off the top of my head maybe 'Scooter' then 'Beaker'. I fell like I am missing better names.
Offline
"Better" names? I don't get it. Every Muppet is Best Muppet.
Offline
I think Beaker is a winner. Then crunchbang can be shipped out with this wallpaper
Offline
I really have no problem with #!13 being Scooter. Another option might be Swedish, but I don't know if corenominal might prefer to keep that in reserve for Chef instead.
Offline
Just as long as Debian "Buster" doesn't become Crunchbang "Bubba the Rat"
Oh the shame of it!

I know he wasn't on the Muppet show but how about Snuffleupagus.? Although imagine all the help posts about sources.list not working because no one can spell Snuffleupagus

Maybe not, but he is a muppet and was on Sesame Street.
I can see it now: /etc/apt/sources.list

I think Sector11 means he's here for the long haul; that he intends to still be part of the community when future releases of #! come out.

+1 to that ^

pvsage hit the nail on the head!
I came when #! was v9, was here during the Statler's time and still here with Waldorf. I figure if I can weather out those two grumpy old guys heckling corenominal Janice will be a breeze.
So in true Sesame Street style. When CrunchBang is brought to you by the Letter "S" - Sector11 will be here.
EDIT: Health willing!

I'm not sure that there will be any thing after Janice, in fact, I'm not 100% convinced that there will be a Janice. My confidence level is at 80% for Janice, and 40 % for anything beyond that. But that's just me

Yes but... 120% out of 100% is really good!
Time to move on!#

Although my pulled-from-my heinie estimates aren't as optimistic as yours, I'm of the same mindset. If you look at the decreasing level of participation to the point of absolutely none by core on this site or any other format(social networks, irc, etc.), it's hard to expect much.
I hang around for the great community that the flavor fostered. I jumped ship on the install itself a while ago, however. I tend not to be comfortable using flavors where I care more about it than the developer. Even if Janice happens, I'll stick with something with a more stable Care-O-Meter reading.
All that being said, #! introduced me to OB, Tint2 and Conky as a bundle, which I have fallen madly in love with and duplicate with anything I install. I would massage core's toes for that reason alone, regardless of bang's future.

Not entirely true. Twitter is moderately active and informs us
I'm totally bored shitless with all the recent systemd talk. **yawn**
]:D
We also see that he has a new MacBook!
FWIW Mrs Corenominal is a regular visitor to the forums, although rarely posts

You should be going by the Twitter account he directs everyone to on every page on the site. Last post almost a year ago and it was to wish everyone a happy new year. The IRC channel you are directed to has the same level of activity on most days, the front page news is from May of 2013, Core last posted here two months ago. The user-to-user participation and support in the forum is the only thing keeping the site from feeling completely abandoned. Posting on his personal Twitter account that he bought a Macbook doesn't change the overall feel of the site when the people visiting the site don't even know that account exists.
I'm not busting anybody's chops, just being Captain Obvious. I have been doing the open source thing for a long time and would need a lot of extra hands to count the projects whose level of activity flatline as the sole developer loses interest. I expect (and receive) patches and support for the OSes I pay for. I expect nothing of the kind for the enthusiast-packaged linux installs I enjoy.
Core doesn't owe anyone anything and although I may be mistaken, I believe I recall a post by him a long time ago stating the fact that #! was created for his use and others were allowed to use it. He made it clear from the beginning that it could simply disappear at any time.

Too negative. Corenominal is maintainer for some Debian packages. Maybe #!'s loss is Debian's gain. He does have a Macbook Pro Retina (like I do) but he has installed Debian with Gnome on it. Gnome is pretty good these days.
