Re: June 2014 Screenshot Thread

That's a small screen my friend. Are you also rocking an 11.6 inch monitor?  cool (Oke, I cheat. I hook it up to a bigger 23 something inch monitor at home  ]:D )

What terminal emulator is that?

@alad

Indeed.  Excel or Word 2010 32-bit run great now in wine without any winetricks or playonlinux as long as you are using a newer version of wine.  It's been a real boon for me not having to virtualize windows or run os x just for required work related applications.

Re: June 2014 Screenshot Thread

@Unia: It's a 15" samsung monitor I'm using since 2004. Still works as new.  big_smile The terminal is lxterminal - now I'm on sakura-gtk2 (from AUR; I really didn't want gtk3 this time). Looks a bit more configurable (though I guess it's little compared to urxvt)

@rstrcogburn: Good to know, though I've always had the worst luck with wine myself...

that's good to know; and where did you take your background photo? It looks a bit familiar.

Re: June 2014 Screenshot Thread

Funny story, but earlier I decided (on a whim) that I wanted to run Fedora, so wiped my drive and booted the netinstall CD. Almost as soon as the installation started, a message popped up: "Unknown error. Installation will now exit". As I was cursing the Fedora Project, I leaned down to remove the USB stick and noticed that the front right leg of my chair had been sitting on it. Needless to say, that's another drive down the drain. My BIOS doesn't even recognize it, now.

Anyway. As a Debian netinstall CD is all I have around, here I am back on Sid. tongue

Re: June 2014 Screenshot Thread

My netbook's been down for 3 months. I finally made time to troubleshoot it yesterday, all signs were pointing to a harddrive failure or a bad connection from the motherboard. Before removing the dozen screws to open it up, I banged the thing in several places against my knee. It's booted w/out error since. I am Fonzie. Aaaaaaayyyy!!!

Xfce from a wheezy Live USB image install...

Re: June 2014 Screenshot Thread

I've been tinkering with OB, gtk and tint, but I'm still not satisfied with the outcome. [Link]

(I really can't stand OB at the moment and wish there was a visually appealing DE, but without the bloat of any DE; a barebone-DE so to speak, which doesn't require metric tones of additional software, but beautifully presents what I already got and lets me tinker with its configs instead of twenty additional config-apps, just to get it running.)
