Fletch's books are by far better than the movie, but the 1st movie isn't too shabby. I just saw your tag line (again), coupled with this topic and had to find the Fletch references.

So a rather wobby wiki walk which started out with the All American Five stumbled through the Current Wars, eventually leading me to FUD and "Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish".
The strategy's three phases are:
Embrace: Development of software substantially compatible with a competing product, or implementing a public standard.
Extend: Addition and promotion of features not supported by the competing product or part of the standard, creating interoperability problems for customers who try to use the 'simple' standard.
Extinguish: When extensions become a de facto standard because of their dominant market share, they marginalize competitors that do not or cannot support the new extensions.
Is it just me, or does anyone get the feeling that the differences between Ubuntu and Debian fit this pattern? I know many have suggested, both in this forum and elsewhere, that Canonical wants Ubuntu to be Linux™...EEE seems to be a means to that end...

i guess most of you have been using windows and still remember the petrifying fear and panick when the system inexplicably freezes. what can you do? contact support? ha.
well i had a little incident last weekend i wanted to share:
i had a 5-year-old friend over for the weekend. she was very interested in my computer, and i told her to watch moomin videos she has to start the web browser first, by pressing the windows key and the "W" key both.
i then was away for a moment and when i came back the system was on total overload, conky showed some kswapd taking all mem and cpu and i/o... so i went like wtf, and then i saw the familiar panic on her face. obviously she remembered a similar incident with her mother (who is, of course, using windoze) and the confusion and anger that followed.
it took me a while to figure out what happened:
she'd been holding down the "W" button, and the system started spawning endless chromium processes... so, i said to her, no worries, you've done nothing wrong, issued "killall chromium" and that's the end of my little story...
another reason to use linux!

LOL, Had you have been using Windows, you surely would have been in a sticky situation. That's one thing that really pisses me off the most, and that is the way how it seems Windows was engineered by a room of drooling retards. Nothing is intuitive and every process they make you do something the most complicated way possible.

Which in turn led me to this: evolvotron. wow.
