have the latest firefox as default browser

hy all first of all read the manual of update-alternatives
then sudo apt-get purge iceweasel ( dont forget to make a copy of your profile)
secondly download the last firefox and extract it where you want (for me in /opt)
Make a symbolic link

sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox

when all is done
in a terminal

 sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/x-www-browser x-www-browser /usr/bin/firefox 90

and

$ sudo update-alternatives --list x-www-browser 
/usr/bin/chromium
/usr/bin/firefox
/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable

and

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gnome-www-browser gnome-www-browser /usr/bin/firefox 90

and

$ sudo update-alternatives --list gnome-www-browser 
/usr/bin/chromium
/usr/bin/firefox
/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable

now you can choose firefox as default browser for X server and gnome environment i hope it was clear

for those who want to update a version of firefox  installed with this solution  just run in a terminal :

sudo firefox

then help, about firefox download the update and apply when you ll reopen ff normally the update will be apply
