[Solved] Cannot access debian multimedia repo (I am on 64 bit Statler)

Synaptic has complained about the multimedia repo for some time now and when I try to install something from this repo I get a bunch of error messages.

I have tried to re-attach to this repo and I have tried other mirrors -- to no avail so far.

I have poked around in the archives of our various fora. I must be doing something wrong because I find nothing of value on this.

Any leads?

/Martin

Can you confirm that the following line is in your sources.list?

deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ squeeze main non-free

Sit back for 2 to 3 days.
I have been seeing your particular complaint as well as experiencing the same my self for Years.
Something happening at the server end..Maintainance..Updating..Maxed out threads or whatever.
It will Clear up. Not worth banging your head against the Wall while infrequent it does happen and will happen again.

Re: [Solved] Cannot access debian multimedia repo (I am on 64 bit Statler)

Should have posted the error code earlier:

Failed to fetch http://www.debian-multimedia.org/dists/squeeze/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://www.debian-multimedia.org/dists/squeeze/non-free/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

And doing so I soon saw the problem: "debian" instead of "deb".
Explanation here:
deb-multimedia.org
The date for the change looks very plausible.

Re: [Solved] Cannot access debian multimedia repo (I am on 64 bit Statler)

I added it a few days ago and it worked (also 64-bit Statler). You sure /etc/apt/sources.list are updated correctly? Also, you need to

sudo apt-get install debian-multimedia-keyring

EDIT: I should really learn to read. Your problem is already solved. duh

Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious.
