Re: What do you do for a living?

@apm:  I hate to tell you this, but most people don't get into free software development to earn money...

@Marianne:  Go to Youtube, search "Moon Unit Zappa".  Might want to do this on an empty stomach, because if you aren't prepared for what you'll hear, you may lose your lunch...and there's no real way to adequately describe what you'll hear.

You do realize you're violating the licenses, right? I'm sure you can be fined/sued/punished for this, even if you live in India. You can't just repackage a distribution with your configurations and package selection and sell it roll

See pvsage's post below.

Re: What do you do for a living?

^ As I understand the license(s), provided all the licensing information is intact and all source code is freely available, it it perfectly legal to sell derivative works for profit.  This would be covered by the 3th freedom as explained here.

where do you come from the microsoft lackey land big_smile , if you ever read " gpl 2 " you would understand  how it is compleately legal to repakage tweak and sell free software for profit , and yes the license that the people who buy my distro on dvd get is also gpl 2.

i know what  he is talking about he has just put the "-9" the wrong way , what he really means is something  i can't say here without being banned , but i can give you a hint it was used as a reference for an  act  of silenceing someone in ancient rome .

You still have to be careful about licenses. It's not like all software is licensed under the GPL.
You also have to be very careful about trademarks and making sure you provide the source for the distribution.

I'm sure there's more to watch out for, but I've never tried to publicly release any of my custom live builds, let alone sell them.
