unable to login with xp hard drive installed

i am able to log in with the crunchbang hard drive installed, but when i install the windows xp hard drive, i get a message that says it appears i have logged in successfully, but i need to have cookies enabled.  the problem is, i already allowed the cookie.  i have also disabled my antivirus and firewall, to no avail. 
any ideas?

Definitely sounds like you're not accepting cookies. Doubt it's the fault of firewall, proxy - it's a browser issue. Which browser are you using?
