guys,
i would like to compile the driver for my wifi adpater, but i keep getting errors.
it is the first time i try to do something similar...
and i was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit ?
the adapter is a EDIMAX-EW7711in
http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail … &pl2_id=44
lspci says:
03:05.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3060 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R
I downloaded the ralink "RT3062PCI/mPCI/CB/PCIe(RT3060/RT3062/RT3562/RT3592)" driver from http://www.ralinktech.com/en/04_support … php?sn=501
when trying to make i get the following error:
make
make -C tools
make[1]: Entering directory `/mnt/UTILITIES/packages/EDIMAX-EW7711in/DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217/tools'

Do you have permissions for that directory? What about moving the folder somewhere in your $HOME and compiling there?

anonymous, you are the man!
i did as you said and it compiled fine.
i have been playing with the result, and somewhere under /os/linux there was something that looked like the driver i was looking for.
not knowing exactly what to do, i copied the rt3562sta.ko to /lib/modules... /kernel/net/wireless tried to modprobe it, but nothing happened... man modprobe hinted that depmod was my friend so eventually the magic happened and the module loaded.
too bad that netcfg fails at the wpa authentication, anyway I am happy with the result, i will check with google but i guess i will have to play with one of the config files in order to have wpa enabled.
Thanks a lot
