Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

Is it possible to install it via unetbootin without the grub problems? And does anyone knows whether if I update my pretty much non-updated previous version 20110105 to newer kernel version, will my manually compiled wireless drivers preserve?

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

@bozhkov: It depends on the version of Unetbootin. Different people have reported different success rates, hence the recommended method is to use dd as it is fairly bulletproof.

Regarding updating from 20110105, there really is no need to perform a fresh install, unless you absolutely want to.

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

Congrats on the new build! I will probably just dist-upgrade my existing installs, however it is good for the project to have the "stable label" for those who care about such things. smile

(edit) I got tired of waiting for CentOS 6.0 so I installed the new #! build on my CentOS 5.5 box... the graphic installer is very nice and I'm up and running no problem! This means that CrunchBang is now my primary business environment for the first time since 9.04... I'm not worried. smile

I can not download from a torrent atm   (Comcast makes them slower than direct download)
They are rated the worst ISP  worse than the next three combined    sad
I did have more success with the last respin.

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

"NOTES:

Existing Statler users should not need to perform a reinstall, instead a simple 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' should suffice."

I was wondering if I have to uninstall Google Chrome before I would get Chromium. When I did, "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" I ended up with an updated Google Chrome instead of Chromium. It does make me wonder if everything else is up to date.

thanks

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

Well, I have a simple question as for the new iso's I have openbox-amd64 Chromium, and xfce4-amd64 - Iceweasel as default during liveusb session...
a) what is the point of getting two different browsers for two window-managers?
b) or I've downloaded the wrong iso for xfce?

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

Exactly the same as snowpine. Statler-Xfce now on two private machines. Having hickups on my netbook after resuming from standby. Just some things I have to adapt to. Claws for example is a lot different compared to Evolution, which I used before (much slower with imap accounts, too).
On the positive side, everything is just fast and stable and great. big_smile
What I noticed when using Chrome (on my i686 machine) and Chromium (amd64 on the desktop) for a flash application I run regularly (monster dungeon game): Chrome's flash version seems to be more 'compatible'. Anyone can confirm this?

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" r20110207

@qbrick - I know that Chrome uses a built-in Flash plugin whereas Chromium uses the system-wide Flash plugin. Are the two Flash versions different? Flash 10.2 was released recently.
