Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

I had to add a line to the boot (acpi=off) and I am in the livecd environment right now, but how can I install this alpha from the livecd environment? smile

Otherwise, awesome build! Keep it up!

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

Woohoo!

Install order for me:
First virtualbox, second Eee, third desktop and finally if all goes well, I'm replacing 9.04 on the desktop.
If it's anything like Alpha 1, I'll be at the replacing 9.04 part very soon...

Thank you Muppet army!

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

Is there a way to update from Alpha 1? I'm running apt-get update and dist-upgrade, but there's nothing to upgrade.

i think i'll try the upgrade first with those packages (good time to learn to examine the content of files) and try the alpha 2 as livecd

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

I installed  the openbox version with  USB Unetbootin and very much impressed.  The  USB  installation  is a snap: everything is automated and prior issues are all gone. Everything  took less then  5 minutes.  The welcome  script  is also very pleasant. I enjoyed the cairo composition. This alpha 2  is  nicely improved and continues to be refined. Now I am  posting from this new installed version.  Corenominal this is an awesome job as usual... Thanks.

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

WoW! I love the new script at first boot.
Install is fast, it took longer to burn the CD than it did to install on my laptop HD. Im about 10 minutes away from installing it on this desktop now, waiting for 2nd laptop to finish installing.

Thank You for a nice smooth distro!!!!!

And thanks for finding a way to improve what was already perfect!

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

Alpha 2 report after 30min of usage and being very sleepy but happy big_smile

* I'm testing openbox-amd64
* Unetbootin to usb-stick: failed multiple times (all of them after re-formating usb)
* dd to usb: success
* Boot: success

* Love at first boot: success!!!

* Cairo compositing: wonderful (I didn't like the compositing effects but I think I'll keep that)
* Dropbox: installed and working great. (By the way, how can we share a folder other than the default dropbox in home? I know that with nautilus this can be done, but in thunar?? perhaps with a custom action if it's possible?)
* I was surprised by the fact that both monitors, laptop's and external, were both identified during startup and set to twin-view, although without nvidia drivers I'm stacked to 1024x768 resolution instead of 1280x800 and everything look odd. (What is the reason for that? a new default xorg file or something?)
* Finally I gave a quick look at themes which are WAY too many!!! Most probably I'll remove them all except the statler's and 1 or 2 that I like. It's really nice to have them though...having choices is good!

Really Great Work  corenominal!!!
Thank you once again!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm putting cb-fortune to autostart.sh

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

One little good news  about  Acer Aspire  timeline  series ( 4810t is the one tested) :  The adjustment  of brightess was  problematic  for this  group of  laptop.  Current  kernel in squeeze is not solving  the problem but  updating the  kernel to experimental along with statler alpha2  is solving the problem with no other configuration necessary.

Re: CrunchBang 10 "Statler" Alpha 2 Released

I found one tiny little issue in the xfce version, and it happened on all 3 of the PC's Ive installed on so far. The keyboard layout was on gu or UK symbols or whatever its called, but it was simple to go into keyboard options and change it to US. It didn't happen in alpha 1 so I dunno if its something I did or thats just how it turned out.
