Re: ./configure problem (GLIB???)

Do you have libc6-dev?  geeqie alpha3 is in the repositories (but most recent version is compile from source beta2).  It has a list of dependencies including libc6 (libc6 is GNU C Library) but not glibc.  Glibc appears to be used only for building libc6 from source, which you don't need.

Edit: Changed libc6 to libc6-dev, I think you'll also need the -dev to compile geeqie.

Re: ./configure problem (GLIB???)

try libglib2.0-dev, that's the one that's usually supposed to be for compiling against.
and bear in mind you might get some more errors, as configure only gives you one dependancy at a time, and by the look of it, this one isn't that much informative in regard to what (debian/ubuntu) package you need.

Re: ./configure problem (GLIB???)

in most cases, if you have a lib<*foo*>-dev, which usually says something like "this package contains what you need for compiling stuff against <*foo*>", it should be a good guess to try for compilation.
hence libgtk2.0-dev.
