[SOLVED] Installing Jessie via USB stick

I'm about to try to install Jessie using the Wally Cheat Sheet, but am having trouble copying debian-jessie-DI-rc1-amd64-netinst.iso to my USB stick using the method described for CrunchBang here. Will this method not work with a netinstall?

Re: [SOLVED] Installing Jessie via USB stick

The method you have linked should work.

You can also try:

sudo cp debian.iso /dev/sdX
sudo sync

Works fine for me. To stop us making wild guesses, what exactly have you done, and what is the problem?

Why are you using the older iso though, now RC2 is released?

To install Debian testing, we recommend you use the Jessie RC 2 release of the installer

Thank you for the quick responses. It turns out that this was user error: my USB stick was bad. Apologies for consuming bandwidth.

debian-boot talked also about the problems with some of the weeklies for testing-jessie, only xfs available, etc.

RC2 works like a charm, at least for me.  To usb via dd.

Re: [SOLVED] Installing Jessie via USB stick

good point on using RC2 instead. I didn't get very far in my CrunchBang-ification of the RC1 system, so I'll likely start over with RC2.

The "RC1" & "RC2" refer to the installer rather than the installed system -- no need to "start over" wink
