#! on chromebook

I'm a beginner so guys don't be too harsh my knowledge of linux is very minimal. If I was to wipe a chromebook and install it solely on the chromebook would it run well? I want to spend as little money as possible as I can on a laptop to develop in java and c++. I was thinking of using a linux distribution and I quite like crunchbang so... any recommendations? Should I settle for a chromebook or look for a cheap windows laptop/netbook. Thanks guys in advance.

Be excellent to each other!

Re: #! on chromebook

4 Things to Keep in Mind When Buying a Chromebook For Linux tells me a Chromebook is a Linux machine.  Nice read ... but I'm a desktop guy.

And then there is this: Index » Off Topic / General Chat » Chromebook

So come on over and enjoy the dark side.  We don't bite and are actually quite helpful.

Re: #! on chromebook

from what i'm seeing here on the forums, quite a few people use one.

use the search function (magnifying glass, top right corner).

imho, if money is an issue, i'd rather go with a used laptop, 2-5 years old.
