Re: Tint2 Help

Had a look at the suggestion from http://code.google.com/p/tint2/wiki/FAQ … in_Openbox

  <action name="ToggleFullscreen"/>

does indeed go over the task bar, but the way it fullscreens also removes the titlebar of the window from view.. i suppose that is why it was bound to a key and not used in the mousebind "maximize" context. as my intent was to use fullscreen for a game, the toggle keybinding will work, just a bit funky to lose the titlebar on my web browser lol

thanks thil77

Re: Tint2 Help

when you said

tint2 is drawing a border around the entire active tint2 area.

is it a border around the panel, or just around the active task ?

if the border is around the panel, are you using xcompmgr and try to disable it.
because the border can be drawn by tint2 or by xcompmgr...

perhaps a screenshot could help to understand your problem.

Re: Tint2 Help

a boarder around the whole panel. i disabled xcompmgr and that did not help. i really think its a conflict with conky. i am on a little 800x600 screen. tint2 on my desktop doesnt have the same issue.

btw thil77- thanks for tint2. i really like it.

tonight i will get a screen shot up.

got to run.

salut,
ryan

Re: Tint2 Help

Does anyone know if there is some way to force a task not to show up in the task bar?  I'm building a kiosk-type device using an old laptop and a touch panel that I bought.  The virtual keyboard app onBoard with the systray icon enabled sometimes shows up in the task bar and sometimes does not.  I'd like to make it never show up in the task bar.  Could it be a bug in onBoard?

Re: Tint2 Help

I just started playing with Tintwizard and it is really nice.

I didn't know what all the 'padding' etc. did but playing with it was fun and now I understand.
If you haven't tried it, you will like it.

Re: Tint2 Help

This may be a silly question, but is it possible to get all of the icons on the bar and the tray to show up in greyscale?

I am enjoying having a greyscale desktop at the moment, and would like to get those items to cooperate as well.

Any advice on how to get the colour out of Tint2?

Thanks!

Re: Tint2 Help

Afaik tint2 (or any panel) just pulls the program's icons. I suppose you could change all your programs icons to greyscale.

on http://gnome-look.org there are a few icon themes which work well in that situation. ALLBLACK,
black-white, gnome black, LaGaDesk-BlackWhite, Oxygen-Refit 2 White etc. Look in the icons category or search the theme names I've listed.

Re: Tint2 Help

you could try using phatch to desature them all http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … saturation . I haven't tested it out yet but it should work well for what you want.

Re: Tint2 Help

I'm giving Phatch a try as we speak. The run time on this bad boy is pretty darn long.

I'm trying to pin down where all the icons should be. I initially thought that /usr/share/icons would get everything I wanted, but tha tdidn't seem to cut it... It's an interesting learning experience.

Thanks for all the advice though, I really appreciate it. Luckily, it's such a minor issue that I'm enjoying playing around with it. wink

Is this grey enough?

If so update your tint2 to rev168 and add these lines...

thank corenominal !

new config options are

taskbar_active_background_id = 3
task_icon_hsb = 0 0 0
task_active_icon_hsb = 0 0 0

task_icon_hsb is to change icon's hue/saturation/brigthness
it can give grey icons (task_icon_hsb = 0 -65 -25)
but you can experiment segfault of tint2 if you play with those parameters

changed in config

wm_menu = 1 allow openbox menu everywhere in the panel or taskbar (outside a task)
new mouse action on task : desktop_left/desktop_right

Ive only modified the taskiconhsb so its grayscale when not active...you will need to edit both.

edit: what it would look like without taskiconhsb:

Re: Tint2 Help

thanks Kdawgca to point it.

if you want less color (grayscale), use saturation from -100 to 0.
if you want more color, use saturation from 0 to 100.

will try to applied HSB on systray, but not sure it's possible.

Re: Tint2 Help

Hey, thanks guys!

Most icons are now greyscale, which looks pretty nice (at least in my opinion).

The only coloured icons are the master volume (this one I haven't been able to figure out), and whichever window is active.

Still, I am enjoying the black and white aesthetic a great deal.

Re: Tint2 Help

You could try the default tint2rc config and see if there is a gap. Also, do you have the latest version of tint2?  Version 1.7.1 ~ Subversion revision 168 should be in 9.04.xx repositories.
