Exactly the opposite here.
All the SSD space! 8o
I still wait for SSDs to reach the same $$$ / GB - value as hard disks. Having 16TB of SSD space instead of having 16TB HDD space.. dat speed.

In Northeast Ohio, US of A, it's sunny, 35 degrees F (just above 0C) with a few inches of snow on the ground from a storm that blew through yesterday. #! is running just fine, & I agree about the english. I've got to make & answer a crapload of open ended questions about a book where the only thing that happens (in the section I have to make questions about) is a girl gets raped & kills a cat. Furthermore, yay me, this is my 400th post

For Programs and all, don't think we'd see a difference with text files
and actually speaking of SSDs, just threw an mSata 16GB on my desktop a couple days ago... mSata underneath the motherboard is a good idea!
at least until you have to remove the motherboard lol.

@dot|not & CSCoder4ever;
Quick question: Why the hell does anybody need 16TB of space at all? My #! setup runs just fine on a 60GB partition, & before that, when I was running Windows XP with a 200GB Hard Disk, I'd never even filled it up half way. What kind of computing practices does someone have that mandate 16TB? I doubt even a server needs that much space (by that, I mean a home server setup, for a regular-type website, not Google or Wikipedia)

You'd be surprised! Bluray rips mostly though.
also 60GB partition? not bad! ... though 90GB+ is what I would need on the go.

Programming class?
I gave up on university and programming classes to pursue a career in a more practical field a long time ago. Still, writing small scripts takes me hours compared to other people.

It is a homeserver. I serve files for family members that love photography, offer backup space for university stuff of some friends and host my own .flac-collection and other stuff. Around 10TB are already used.

/dev/mapper/main-root 14G 4,9G 8,4G 37% /
I say 16GB is sufficient.

I've never thought of myself as particularly tidy, I keep all my files even from my last OS, & seem to just never wind up filling my hard drive.
@dot|not: Ok, I stand corrected. Can you tell me about how much stuff (by category of file type) is taking up that 10TB? I'm curious how that much space is actually used

Probably "mares" then, given the history of the defendent.

I think we may have forgotten @GutsAndGlory here...

Here, uh.. It's cloudy and rainy- not a storm, but not a light rain- just the sufficient to make it nice. :3

I'd like to buy a vowel: a
_(a) _ _ z
And even if that was true ... that's still way to much.
But think
- video creating, editing.
- same for music ...
- AutoCad files for the 862 buildings you've designed.
and a root and home partition for every Linux Distro out there!
@ dot|not - that's awesome - soooooooooo do #! users get a slice? ]:D ]:D ]:D
OK OK I'm outta here ....
Still cloudy, 21°, still with coffee.

@Sector11, sounds like that episode of OSFirstTimer here they tried TinyCore Linux, & Diana proposed the opposite of a minimal distro, a distro that had 20 of everything, & you just delete what you don't want; so 20 web browsers, 20 media players, 20 file managers, 20 package managers, 20 text editors, 20 sets of man pages (for everything) & so on. Even with that, the estimated .iso was only a whopping 2TB (your live disk is a live hard disk ) which brings back the question, what & how much of it is filling 10TB on that server?
@CSCoder4ever & IntoCB: yeah, I can see pvsage having an entire 55GB partition dedicated to his favorite multicolored quadrupedal mammals

Raises hand. I work with uncompressed video. Even standard definition takes up an enormous amount of space (especially if you want to keep more than one version to compare edits). I could always use more space.
Edit- one my older setups had 6-10 drives at any given time, multiple controller cards and disk spanning. That was fun (especially when something went wrong). And so loud!
