Finally...bitcoin explained...Marc Andreessen

Bitcoin is easily the most misunderstood technology topic I have seen in a long time (say 20 years). Almost everything I've read in the press (business & trade) has been wrong...at least according to Marc Andreessen (and I agree with him after reading this).

He does an amazing job in this NYTimes article at explaining the far-reaching impact of bitcoin. I can almost guarantee it ain't what you think...

This is generally the bitcoin overview I link for people who wish to learn more about the technology and where it probably will go...
It's much better than the over-edumacated under-researched NYT crap...

At this point mining is getting pretty much above and beyond affordable mining rigs for most.
The algorithm has increased drastically in difficulty.

Re: Finally...bitcoin explained...Marc Andreessen

As I understand it, bitcoin isn't the only cryptocurrency now; might be more opportunities for mining with the newer ones like Doge coin?

As the mathematical problems get harder mining Bitcoin is not worth the effort for private persons in my humble opinion. Litecoin would be the way to go these days.

...except a meme like Doge is inherently free, in that nobody can claim ownership of it...and Dogecoin is actually a thing...
(EDIT: ...wut, Coinya actually exists? hmm  That's it; I officially don't like this world anymore.)
