That!
And a removal of Gimp (for a option in cb-welcome) so that the whole thing fits a standard CD.
came for the distro, stayed for the community

I liked everything in waldorf and as far as new features:
adding the multimedia debian repos by default.
+infinity for deadbeef
bring back pidgin
I like the super + alt left or right arrow key bindings to snap the windows into corners at half screen size, I would like to see that if we put our mouse cursor to upper left and right corners do the same thing.
a gui program to make key bindings like the obmenu.
more crunchbang wallpapers
AND....
make a #! distro based on sid called #! ANIMAL!

Just a quick mockup to illustrate what the post installation thingy could look like. It's been a while since I did any Bash scripting, but at least it works

I know you've probably already thought of this, but you should be able to pick multiple choices as well

Couldn't you do that with Hot-Corners - eg get it to use cb-aerosnap?

+1 remove the GIMP (make it an option in the post-install)
+1 systemd
Make the default text-editor geany. (Abiword attempts to open some files by default that it shouldn't.)
Add options for enabling sid/experimental repos (and adjust pinning accordingly) in cb-welcome.
Fix the odd cb-aerosnap behaviour where it aligns windows a few pixels off on the right-side of the screen.
Also, a convenient way to manage dot-files. I think there was a python utility on the forums (floating around some time ago) for changing openbox themes, perhaps something similar for managing openbox/geany/terminator/etc. configs.
Or, another thought... might we all post our individual collections of dot-files to a github repo and create something of a community 'CrunchBang Config Archive'?

^ I like the idea of selecting which repo to track (jessie/testing) at install time.
• Support #! • Waldorf • Debian sid • Xubuntu • siduction • Peppermint • OpenBox • Xfce • LXDE •

Absolutely. I have no clue if standard bash can handle that. If not, it's fairly easy to do with dialog
dialog --checklist "Choose what you'd like:" 15 40 5 1 Java off 2 Flash on 3 'Printing' off 4 Media off

I thought the codecs and UI's in the multimedia repos were now included in the main repo.

When the window is in the restore mode alt+space -> e you can press the super + left or right to do this.
But mayby it would be a good thing to let it do it when the window is in the Maximized mode also? If it's possible...

Thunar (update to 1.6) or SpaceFM is beautifull and not simple...cool:
I like SLIM, is lighweight and hasnt problem in old pc...
Remove Gimp... (a option in cb-welcome)
Maybe another wallpaper for default (?) with the #! logo

Some nice theme for grub? I liked the one in Statler better.

I've seen some great Ideas, let me try and summarize with my opinions
LightDM yes: but only if we can get some themeing, maybe a fork of the unity-greeter in black. based soley one defaults, i might have to vote for SLiM.
Deadbeef yes: Keep VLC, but deadbeef is small and light enough that it should be included as a dedicated music player.
SpaceFM YES: If i got one thing in the next release, i would want SPaceFM
Grub themes yes:While a nice theme for Grub is an option, i prefer syslinux/extlinux, and would really like to see it as an option in the new installer. if we are working off the testing repos it should be new enough for UEFI support.
Pulse Mehh:i dont care about pulse, it works for me, doesnt cause too much trouble.
font manager no: bloat
Telnet no: bloat
Locate yes: basic system tool
Openbox Icons YES: With the new packages coming in, we will have Openbox 3.5 standard. that will allow us to use icons in the main Openbox menu. I would love to see a port of the dynamic and iconified menu used by the Manjaro openbox spin
SystemD as an option: at least as an option, even if it is a seperate .iso
Gimp no: Move Gimp to post-install
Abiword no: bloat, causes problems, not needed
Multimedia Repos yes: in the post install before dist-upgrade there should be an option to add multimedia and to switch to Sid
I have made the most complete list so far, and it looks like a ton of work. I would also like to see come more community involvement. We have a ton of smart and experienced users and I would like to see more community contributions. I think a #! git would be a great way to get Janice into shape and to tap the great resource of #! users.

Definitely no GIMP and PulseAudio.
Menu transparency and shadow disabled by default, maybe. Very unpopular idea I know, but I like the idea of a simple and "straight-to-the-point" WM.
Stop, Dave.
Will you stop, Dave?
Stop, Dave.
I'm afraid.

Since Janice is such a groovy Muppet maybe some default music creation application like audacity. You already have the GIMP representing for the visual artists.

Not as a default, as a post-install, right?

I personally couldn't imagine #! without GIMP. I understand the logic of the post install script for us non bloat lovers.
Wait a minute, didn't CrunchBang used to have Audacity as a default back in the day? I could be wrong but if true, I'm thinking that's actually how I discovered it.
For me, Audacity is like my text editor for music and I think of CrunchBang as the best distro/environment for visual, audio production.

If keeping SLiM, use SLiMlock to replace X-screensaver.
+1 Remove GIMP as standard
+1 systemd
+1 No pulseaudio
+1 Telnet
+1 No mo' Abiword

Not to derail, but I had attempted to get something like this going previously. Unia was the only one other than myself who showed any interest in attacking upstream improvements. If something comes up (ideas, corrections, minimal programs) hit me up.

+1111111111111 for killing pulseaudio (with fire if possible)
+111 dump Abiword
+11 something prettier than xscreensaver for those who need to lock their screens
neutral on The GIMP...might help get back under 700MB (though last I checked, just about all the CDs we can get around here are the 800MB variety)
+1 deaDBeef (though I actually prefer qmmp because of its nice projectM plugin)
