My wife would Love it if conky was banned, but then I would have to lurk around in shady parts of town to get my conky fix.

So please for my safety and nerds alike.. DON'T EVER BAN CONKY!!!

ok I have a question if were are going to begin treating conky like a controlled substance, that need warning labels and such. does that mean that we also need to begin rating/grading each thing of conky.

Like: Defualt conky from a fresh #! install, is approximently a kilo of code (90 lines of code) but it is only about 70% pure because of the 30.6% of filler (34 lines of #comment)?

i got over my conky addiction.

tiling window managers were partly responsible.

but mostly, i just outgrew it. it had increasing diminishing returns, and i wasnt getting my fix anymore, on any level that had kept me hooked. eventually, it just faded away and became happily forgotten about.

i think this day will come to all conky addicts.

you'll shoot the puppet in the head, you'll burry him in a swamp, and it'll still come back for more... but as you keep gettin past the crazyness, and the notions of a need to have conky around, eventually, you just wont be bringing it back anymore.

no need for a "ban" (*(chortle)*).

I have to agree with d! on banning conky.

I spent over 30 mins today tweaking the colours on my laptop during a class, only to go back to what it was before i started, and i now have to catch up on what i missed

Being new here i searched the forums and found the monster thread for this conky, so i think i will be missing more stuff the teacher says in the next few weeks

Agree conky addiction is a potentially serious problem. Esp for conky grand masters like Sector ... he neither knows, nor cares that conky has become addictive. One of the few things about gnu/nix was able to pry meself away from. ooooOOOoo if only x about my conky would but appear 1/47 inch to da right !!!! Messed with it ... gave up on it, then decided conky is bloat and got rid of it altogether anyway.

As conky could nay tell me ... anything I couldn't find out w a coupla secs in terminal anyway ? Right/wrong ? Think that's the thing about gnu/nix ... iz no right/wrong ... YOU decide, what works for YOU ... What do YOU like ... that's what's right ... For YOU.

I still vote we sue conky ... and Sector11 though ... why not ? . Yeah right ... hopefully people realize that's meant to be a joke.

You want to talk addiction, take a look at the screenshot section. Now those guys are out of it. Showing off their tiling WM's and various programs, colour schemes and themes. I mean get real, settle on something and leave it alone - then and only then will you have time to tweak your conky! {did i say that?}

OK OK, I have 11 conkys I run daily and have over 500 conkys in ~/conky and that's not counting the ones in any of the 168 sub-directories or all my personal conkys in ~/Conky (41 sub-directories) that go all the way back to my very first conky that not addiction:
