I need the old statler xfce config files

Just installed xfce and it looks butt-ugly by default. could anyone post the config files that made the last crunchbang xfce (feb 2011?) so beautyful? I tweaked some things, but it is still ugly as hell. I really like to have tint2 and all the crunchbangy goodness that have been included in the last xfce release -

I guess it's faster to copy that good old configs over than setting up everything by myself - and a nice resource for crunchbang xfce fans..

edit:

what I did until now:

messed up the taskbar - it doesnt stretch anymore. I don't mind. but cant get it black or transparent.
for having it statler'ish, I threw everything out except and battery/network/clipboard icon.. still looks ugly.  but guess I can have them in tint2 as well?

enabled tint2, made a 2nd xfce bar for only the menu button, have that bottom left. tint2 sits beside it.
disabled icons on the desktop (voila: good old right-click menu is there)
have to do the keybinds, change the tint2 config..
have to find nice monochrome icons and a decent window decoration.

still happy if someone could post the old configs, that could save a lot of time.

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

Take this, I guess:

cp -R /etc/skel/.config/* ~/.config/

And say good bye to the old configs. You've been warned.

Or simply visit /etc/skel/ and look around big_smile

Ah I see, you're not on the original XFCE #! version.... Lemme check that for you big_smile

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

no, I use nov 2011 openbox. but I want xfce for a guest account.

how do I get rid of the in/temp/video/music folders on the desktop? either I disable all, or I see home and allthe contents of home. just the home folder would be enough, for the moment I disabled all, but for my guest account the home-folder icon and a files-on desktop behaviour would be nice.

thanks.

too bad corenominal chose to go openbox-only. the xfce setup was awesome. (it really incredible how ugly the xfce4 default desktop looks like - boy, this wallpaper is ridiculous!)

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

not everything.. maybe my memory failed on me.. but was here always the xfce taskbar in the the statler xfce version? I remember a mix between tint 2 and the xfce bar.. also the statler theme seems to be missing, I have blue window decoration (needless to say: ugly) - also the margins for rightclick menu are missing. still needs some tinkering.. but thanks for your effort. this way I have the keybinds and all that. the icons are okay as well.

ahaha.. I remember.. dmenu does not work in xfce (or only sometimes) - and for some strange reason the calender on the clock autostarts and won't close. but there is still a statler window decoration.

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

Simply ignore #8 and load the file in #10 which you extract as root into /etc/xdg/ (it will create a path named xfce4 with subfolders)

Yeah, dmenu... I have assigned shortcuts and everything, but it somehow doesn't want to store the setting. I think this has something to do with xfce4-session (helper?). And I even think that was a bug in old 4.6 and got fixed (?)

By the way, the themes you get from the statler repos, search like this:

apt-cache search crunchbang

apt-cache search crunchbang
statler-ui-theme - default theme for CrunchBang Statler
crunchbang-keyring - APT archive key for CrunchBang repository
crunchbang-extra-themes - Additional GTK+ and Openbox themes.
crunchbang-bin-scripts - various bin scripts for use with CrunchBang
crunchbang-multi-session - metapackage for installing CrunchBang Openbox and Xfce sessions
crunchbang-openbox-packages - metapackage for installing CrunchBang Openbox packages
crunchbang-xfce-packages - metapackage for installing CrunchBang Xfce packages
crunchbang-configs - config files for CrunchBang Linux
crunchbang-wallpapers - A selection of wallpapers
statler-icon-theme - statler icon themes

The bold ones will regulate wink

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

These are the fallbacks:

       XDG_CONFIG_DIRS
Specifies a colon-separated list of system directories in which
to search for configuration data. If this environment variable
is not present, it defaults to /etc/xdg

---

Saneks, I think that's really all. I don't find anything else. You should create a new user (just to test) and see if the new XFCE4-session looks like Statler. Of course the /etc/xdg doesn't do anything on your current setup, because your current uses ~/.config/xfce4
So later in the new user's .config/xfce4 you can copy the relevant files to your actual user's ~/.config/xfce4.

Re: I need the old statler xfce config files

By the way...remember when Philip changed the domain for the Statler repo?  The older XFCE-specific packages are still available here, but I have no idea how much longer they'll be left up...I'm sure Papanominal will want that disk space back eventually.

EDIT:  fixed link.
