@ SuNjACk - I hate you - but in a really GOOD way ... I spent H-O-U-R-S at that wallpaper site you linked to today and have a LOT of new ones.

this is the current setup using the xfce4 DE on #!. working on getting the panels transparent but that one is going slowly. active window stays dark as shown with the run in the top right hand corner.

this second one is showing the main menu and the regular desktop without all the windows going

Probably on my fourth install of #! now. Just did this about two days ago.

Not having Conky running feels like blasphemy, I just switch wallpapers too often for it to stay legible. Looking at these screenshots running awesome is making me jealous... Might have to give that a shot.
