Great post. I read it long time ago and I am still coming back.
If possible, please fix the links in first post (errors due to domain and forum organization changes)

PS.: @mods : how about automatic link fix?

1. I have reinstalled sun-java6-plugin. Nothing changed.

ii  sun-java6-fonts           6.24-1~squeeze1           Lucida TrueType fonts (from the Sun JRE)

Some time ago I had similar problem on a different distro. My Xorg.conf was changed by nvidia drivers. I was needed to add a line in Xorg.conf.

All above sites works in Midori, although my bank site does work in Chromium or Midori.  It worked on Xubuntu on Chrome. I can't make head or tail of it.

I don't have such a path:
$ ls -l ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/
razem 4
drwx------ 2 krystian krystian 4096 03-28 02:52 background
-rw------- 1 krystian krystian    0 03-28 02:52 %gconf.xml

No, I have not. I have little experience.
Should I install gconf-editor or I can edit a xml file? Any further tips are welcomed.

All that came to my mind was:
$ ls ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/
background  %gconf.xml

$ apropos gconf
dh_gconf (1)         - install GConf defaults files and register schemas
gconf-schemas (8)    - register gconf schemas with the gconf database
gconftool (1)        - GNOME configuration tool
gconftool-2 (1)      - GNOME configuration tool
update-gconf-defaults (8) - generate GConf defaults shipped in Debian packages

Following "read before posting" topic I sent last two hours looking for solution with no result. Here is my problem/question:

Having installed claws-mail I tried to click on mailto: link in Chromium. New window was opened - nothing else happened. Then I started checking chromium preferences, "Edit Default Applications", x-mail-client, sensible-mail-client, update-alternatives. With no results.

My question is how to set default e-mail client and how to make Chromium follow mailto: link to that default e-mail client.
