@Sector11 - That is superb!  I really like the minimal Conky touches.  Going minimal with Conky is so hard for you isn't it?   lol

#2 Re: Artwork & Screenshots » February 2014 Screenshot Thread » 2014-02-03 23:40:05

@Snap - Really nice.  I liked both of them.  I do think I prefer the second one though.

Thanks for posting this.  It works perfectly.  Has anyone been able to get it to stream to Chromecast?

That is really nice.  I've always liked jwm.  It's just that (like Fluxbox) without some tweaking it's soooooo ugly lol.

Terrific elegant work all over. I like your style and good taste so much. Or at least it matches my likings.  tongue

Thanks.  I like to mess around with other people's code lol.  You combine that with a couple of good wallpapers, and you can at least come up with something that you like, if not everyone else.

Yeah, it is a little dark.  The Conky was, I believe, originally from Packrat.  I just added the 4 cores.  I understand about learning where things are.  There is a bit of a learning curve.  : )

@Snap - I didn't actually "install" the Token icons.  I have them in a file which I then point to with the path in the .wbar file like this:

i: /home/evl/wbar/Token_by_brsev/Token Dark/Token-PNG/Multimedia+Graphics/Television-Alt.png
c: terminator
t: Terminator

@Pdc - Thanks for the Clarity reminder, downloading now.  Very nice icon set.  I'm also using AwOkenBrontoBlackApps which I did set in Lxappearance.

@Dobbie03 - Thanks for the Conky.  I think it/or me, is missing something.  I keep getting this error:

Conky: llua_getstring: function conky_draw_bg didn't return a string, result discarded
Conky: llua_do_call: function conky_main_bars execution failed: attempt to call a nil value

@Darksoul - That is one of the nicest looking setups I've seen!  I guess you were naughty last year.  Don't feel too bad though, Santa didn't park one in my driveway either.  : (

@ Snap - You are right.  I just tried to theme Openbox like Fluxbox.  I see what you mean with the menu fading with the text.  I don't know how to theme Openbox, but I played around with it a little and it seems pretty logical.  I haven't got the theme right yet.  Anyway, Fluxbox just seems easier to me to get the look I want.  Here's my Openbox work-in-progress:

Fluxbox! So it seems it deserves a go.  tongue

Thanks, damo.

I've used it a lot in the past, but I still prefer Openbox. Worth exploring though...

I am using my own theme and also native Fluxbox pseudo-transparency with Compton as well.  Be warned, the default Fluxbox theme may make you want to poke your eyes out. cool

Hi Sunjack.  Really nice screenshots.  Great wallpaper.

@ Snap - Thanks, still tweaking.  You know how it goes.

@ Damo - That is a beautiful setup!  Love the Conkys and the wall.

@ Geezer - Thanks, I just figured out that I have to click on the screenshot twice and then it blows it up and everything looks ok.

@S11 - Ha, I still have all of those templates too.  I gave up (for now) on the Pianobar and instead I went with Pithos.  I found a nice script.  I have tried Radiotray and really like it too.  I just got obsessed with Pandora/Conky.  So here is Conky working with Pandora (thanks to some of Vastone's posts somewhere in this thread):

@Dk75 - Yes, I think that's it.  I made a config file but I didn't put enough stuff in it.  Testing now...

#22 Re: Tips, Tricks & Scripts » Conky v1.9 Thread » 2014-01-07 17:10:32

Thanks S11, it's great to be back.  Remember all of that work we did creating transparent backgrounds for Conky?  Now you can do it with Lua ha, ha.  I appreciate you taking a look and responding even if you can't help.  It must be something in the script.  I'm gonna try re-installing Pianobar per Dk75's comment (thanks Dk75).

#23 Re: Tips, Tricks & Scripts » Conky v1.9 Thread » 2014-01-07 16:45:01

It must be installed because I installed it from Synaptic and it shows that it is installed.  Also when I type "pianobar" in the terminal, it starts and asks for my Pandora login information.  After I login and select whatever channel I want to listen to, then the music starts playing.

Howdy S11, Mr. Peachy, and all you other Conky geniuses!  I have a question.  Problem:  I am trying to parse Pandora using Pianobar and get the info into my conky.  Here is the script I found online that I'm using (http://gistflow.com/posts/485-fun-with- … ng-in-bash):

#!/bin/bash
services=(pianobar mpd)

what_is_running() {
  for service in ${services[@]}; do
    if [ -n "$(pgrep $service)" ]; then
      echo $service
      return
    fi
  done
  echo none
}

trim() {
  cat /dev/stdin | sed 's/^ *//g' | sed 's/ *$//g'
}

none_fn() {
  echo "Nothing playing."
}

pianobar_fn() {
  title=$(cat ~/.config/pianobar/nowplaying | cut -f1 -d:)
  artist=$(cat ~/.config/pianobar/nowplaying | cut -f2 -d:)
  echo "Now Playing: $title by $artist"
}

mpd_fn() {
  if [ -n "$(mpc current)" ]; then
    artist=$(mpc current | cut -f1 -d- | trim)
    title=$(mpc current | cut -f2 -d- | trim)
    echo "Now Playing: $title by $artist"
  else
    none_fn
  fi
}

running=$(what_is_running)
${running}_fn
exit 0

I am getting this output:  Now Playing    by

I'm also getting this error:  cat: /home/evl/.config/pianobar/nowplaying: No such file or directory

I created the directory pianobar (./.config/pianobar) and placed a file in it named nowplaying.  What have I missed?  Is this supposed to be a special file or something?  Sorry if this is silly but I'm kinda clueless with this stuff.   tongue

[edit]  Ok, restarted Conky and now there is no error, but also no output other than:  Now Playing    by

@Lowrider - It's great to see WindowMaker.  There was a distro (you probably remember it) Liquid Lemur that had a real nice thing going with WindowMaker/Xfce, but it's gone.
