@pingu, thats the most awesome hardware ever, is it raspberry pi? (can't be)
@Anaconda: Why a nerdy side? I kinda think that's how a TV should mostly look like.

super latest
- unpack https://builder.blender.org/download/ to a place under home (I have "apps" directory) and run from there (and/or add a launcher to ob menu).
not so latest
- install blender from backports (enable backport repos first)
Looks good, now if you want a more "posix" approach to mktemp, perhaps worth reading

I'd start with fixing whatever shellcheck.net said, that way you can be mostly sure bugs are probably of logical nature (and not syntax related).
@damo, I think the new tint2 dev is at gitlab
https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2/commits/master
(I can't see anything about "launchers" in commits)
You have obviously tested the export thingy? (If it applies here anyway, I probably don't understand the question exactly)
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7411 … rogramming
added mini-brain (if ok then ..., if fails then ...) to my previous answer ^.
you could also use unp (cli decompressor < in repos) and urxvt, patched to thunar as (replacing urxvt with terminator also seems to work)
urxvt -e bash -c 'unp %F && (echo "ok"; sleep 1) || (echo "nope"; sleep 10)'
with appearance conditions set to something like
*.zip;*.tar.gz;*.tar.xz
Only did a brief testing, but seems to work.
I have to agree with original post, but they are not only ugly, they also lack any motivation to notify user that they were already clicked, just a bad bad launcher that otherwise nice tint2 panel is (And all that has nothing to with crunchbang legacy or non-legacy).
Proposed brontosolution would be to make a root-menu-opener launcher (root-menu shows up fast enough to cover-up lack of tint2 motivation). This also kinda solves an otherwise trivial (nooby?) problem of where to get the menu when an app is maximized.

Of course not, why would I test mint tools? (dd roxors)
p.s. still trying to find time to test new blender (opensubd section mostly).

If you look in install.sh, it refers to ui and .desktop files.

Usage: mintstick [--debug] -m [format|iso] : mode (format usb stick or burn iso image)
mintstick [--debug] -m iso [-i|--iso] iso_path
mintstick [--debug] -m format [-u|--usb] usb_device
[-f|--filesystem] filesystem

Interesting, kinda reads like: All this features to see and no one there.
Sorry for offtopic (It's one of those books I read at least 5 times over the years / and could always find a new angle of view on it). According to Saburo, becoming kamikaze was not much more than another order to be conducted (unless I missed the interlines/in-between lines), which makes some sense if you know what a hard and military training all this pilots had (But can't explain the nooby pilots deciding for the same).
Ok then, I see you all have a real samurai powers (@johnraff, offtopic: Did you by any chance read the Samurai by Saburo Sakai book?).
Added fvwm on my 'todo in next decade' as well.
try some other player?

mpv -vo x11 file.mp4
The idea is that apps can easily be added/removed from pipemenus.rc (there is a HowTo provided), without having to edit menu.rc, and they magically appear in the menu.
I see, missed that part.
@damo: Coming from:
- install blender < On first click I would think its a wget/Curl script that automagically gets the latest version from https://builder.blender.org/download/ or something.
- takes space in already slightly bloated root-menu < root-menu should be as small as possible (only my opinion)
- talking about good defaults here, I know i can nuke the menu and do my own , also capable of changing the wallpaper
@damo; same here, so the installer is basically useless?
@johnraff
e. laptop-detect seems to not require sudo here.
f. imho gain is a single window where one can change entire 'look'.
g. I'd call it a #! 'bug', rather than legacy
