I was trying to put the image into the /shared folder. I Got them put into the wallpaper folder and now they show up. I was able to right click on my picture and set it as the wallpaper, but now that It works, and I learned how to do it, I should be fine. Thanks to all

#3 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » [Solved]Can't change wallpaper? » 2012-04-24 05:13:41

I am unable to change my background. I try to right-click  set as wallpaper. that does not work. I can't drag the file into the wallpaper folder. it just "bounces" back to the original location. I used to be able to. I can change from within the "default" one's in Nitrogen. I am stumped! any Ideas?

#4 Re: CrunchBang Talk » Why do you use #!Crunchbang » 2012-04-24 03:52:41

1- it works
2- I do not know very much when it comes to Linux, and the Community is top notch for help
3- It helps me learn, I can now install a new program through terminal, and I have added menu items.
4- did I mention that It works.........

#5 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » [Solved] Can't Set Static IP » 2012-04-24 03:13:18

I used the following How-To and it worked just fine.

http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … agergnome/

just follow the instructions listed in the bottom half of the fist post and you are all set.

#7 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » I can not playback dvd's [SOLVED] » 2012-04-13 16:48:43

Well, I finally got back to working on this.  I got it working! First I installed mplayer, that helped out alot for a few reasons. First, it was run  through the terminal only (i did install gui for ease of use later). What that did for me was output the actual error cod that I was getting, I did a search on the web and found this

http://www.squaregoldfish.co.uk/2010/01 … em-behave/

I changed the region from what ever is was set to, and put in Region 1. And it works.

#8 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » slow wireless » 2012-04-11 16:52:36

I guess my fix did not work! Upon reading my last post I saw that I was still using the b43-pci-bridge kernel driver. This is all new to me, so thanks for giving me the commands to type. I am just learning linux (and getting better) and know none of the commands yet.

#9 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » slow wireless » 2012-04-11 16:42:09

I think that I might have gotten it. I did a little more searching and found this post

You might try:

sudo update-initramfs -u
It should update the system so that it will not load the b43 modules when the system starts up.

Hello, I just re-installed cruchbang on my hp dv9000 laptop yesterday. Had cruchbang working great a while back. when I went through the post install setup( hello screen in terminal) I ran the kernel upgrade part of it. Now my wireless is very slow. It worked great before, I suspect it had something to do with the kernel upgrade. I believe that last time I skipped the kernel upgrade. Is there a way to load the old kernel? If not, all I have on here is a conky config and chorme browser, so a reload would be fine to do if that is what it takes. Thanks, Bryan

#11 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » I can not playback dvd's [SOLVED] » 2011-09-23 14:12:56

I think that I will download a fresh copy of #! this weekend and do a fresh install. I saved my autostart and conky config files, and that is all I have on my computer that I need. I may have screwed something up on the original install.

#12 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » I can not playback dvd's [SOLVED] » 2011-09-21 19:48:52

Just did, and it was installed. I did a re-install on it. Tried to play dvd by
1)open VLC
2)Media > Open disc
3)Pick my dvd >open
Starts to spin disc, then stops. I will check out the link you sent me and reference that also

Thanks

#13 Re: Help & Support (Crunchbang 11 "Waldorf") » I can not playback dvd's [SOLVED] » 2011-09-21 19:41:41

Thank you. I can not play it from  opening up the dvd in the menu. I will check to see if libdvdcss2 is installed. Is that from the package manager by chance?

I tried to play a dvd this weekend with no luck. I popped in the dvd and opened up VLC. Then did an open disc, all I got was the orange cone on the screen. the only thing that I saw that was a concern was that the device was listed as /cdrom0 and not dvd. I am kinda limited on my linux know-how, but just thought that looked not right! Any help would be nice.
